  • Patent number: 9919985
Abstract: Additives for mixing into the base catalyst inventory of the fluid catalytic cracking (FCC) process units, so as to achieve a high selectivity of light olefins (ethylene and propylene), are described. Such additives comprise an FER zeolite and an MFI zeolite, the MFI zeolite preferably being zeolite ZSM-5. The mixture of the additive in a concentration greater than 2% w/w relative to the base catalyst of an FCC unit allows greater selectivity for light olefins, propylene and ethylene, while maintaining catalytic activity.

  • Patent number: 8933286
Abstract: A process is described for maximization of light olefins, preferably ethylene, by the catalytic cracking of feeds of saturated hydrocarbons, with molecular size in the range from 4 to 6 carbon atoms. The process uses a catalyst based on a zeolite of type ZSM-5 with low sodium content and modified with nickel, with concentration by weight of nickel, expressed in the form of oxide, in the range from 0.1% to 20% relative to the weight of zeolite in the catalyst, and operating conditions that involve a temperature between 400° C. and 650° C. and feed partial pressure between 0.1 and 1.0 MPa, so that the product recovered is rich in light olefins, with ethylene/propylene ratio in the range from 0.25 to 2.00.

  • Publication number: 20110266197
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of production of light olefins, with the objective of maximizing the production of propylene and in particular ethylene by the use of a special catalyst containing high-silica zeolite, whose composition also includes a dehydrogenating metal, so as to generate light olefins and appreciable deposition of coke on the catalyst. Gains in selectivity for light olefins are observed, and at the same time the energy deficiency of catalytic cracking in petrochemical operations with light hydrocarbons is minimized, avoiding problems due to the need to burn heating oil in the catalyst regenerating section to make up for the energy deficit of the converter.

  • Publication number: 20110207984
Abstract: Additives for mixing with the catalyst inventory in process units for fluid catalytic cracking (FCC) for maximizing the production of LPG and light olefins are described. Said additives comprise a matrix that incorporates a zeolite of type MFI, preferably zeolite ZSM-5, a zeolite of type Y, and a source of phosphorus, in a single particle. Mixing of the additive in proportions from 1.0 to 40 wt. % with the equilibrium catalyst of an FCC unit maximizes the production of LPG and light olefins, chiefly propylene.

  • Patent number: 7691768
Abstract: A process for the preparation and modification of additives, with a zeolite base and a high silica alumina ratio (SAR) like the ZSM-5, to increase the yield of propene and LPG in low severity FCC operations, that seeks to maximize the production of medium-distillates with low aromaticity and to minimize molecular cracking in the LCO range. The additives involved guarantee an increase in light olefin yields without altering the yield or the quality of the LCO produced. The innovative process includes surprising actions from rare earths (RE) on the active sites of zeolite, that at once partially block their pores and, in this way, make molecular cracking in the medium-distillate range difficult, which preferably occur at low reaction temperatures and keeps the remaining sites quite active.

  • Patent number: 7622413
Abstract: A multifunctional additive for maximizing yield of light olefins and LPG, with a tolerance to contaminant metals. Maximization of the referenced properties is accomplished through the use of a zeolite treated with a phosphorus source, calcined and impregnated with a rare earth salt. The process for preparation of the referenced catalyst includes the following steps: preparation of a precursor containing a zeolite that is selective of olefins with a source of phosphorus; placement of a source of phosphorus in this precursor through calcination; deposition of rare earth salts on the surface of the additive for maximizing the yield of light olefins and LPG that forms; and drying the multifunctional additive formed.

  • Publication number: 20090099006
Abstract: The present, invention relates to a process for the production of additives for catalysts for fluid catalytic cracking (FCC) based on zeolite that is selective for light olefins, with the aim of increasing the yields, in FCC units, of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and light olefins, of high added value, among others propene and isobutene. This invention provides a method of preparation of catalytic compositions, starting from zeolite modified with phosphate and alkaline-earth metal, that leads to the production of an additive with better performance than the additives, of similar compositions, obtained by other methods of the prior art. The process can be regarded as a development in relation to other processes, as it promotes interaction between the zeolite that is selective for light olefins and its activator, reagent “X”. For this, a separate stage is used during the sequence of stages in the preparation.
