  • Patent number: 4720756
Abstract: A positioning apparatus has a guidance system including first and second bearing means in which a pressure on one side of a guide plate and a height adjustment on its other side to be positioned are sufficient to provide an unambiguous controlled guidance virtually without deviation from the axis of movement of the guide plate. An advantageous construction is provided by a rotary bearing arrangement substantially in the form of an isosceles triangle. A particular mounting pivot point on the bearing support simplifies the assembly of an apparatus having a band drive means. The apparatus is suitable for all types of information recording and playback apparatuses employing disks or disk-shaped media, and also for positioning purposes in robots, etc.

  • Patent number: 4680656
Abstract: An information disk store possesses an air circulation system in a substantially sealed housing, by means of which system, which includes a channel for directing air to the end of the hub on which the disks are mounted, and a low-pressure compartment that is shut off from the disk compartment by a main filter, a first positive pressure gradient from the bottom to the top of the housing is set up in the peripheral space adjacent to the disks. It is advantageous to also set up a second positive pressure gradient in the direction of rotation of the disks, in the peripheral space adjacent to the disks. The novel air circulation system can be used with advantage in all information disk storage systems in which the write and read operations may be adversely affected by dust and dirt.

  • Patent number: 4672491
Abstract: In a memory processing unit, a magnetic-head positioning device having a longitudinally actuated carriage with a guide plate carrying the head, or heads, which plate has longitudinal edges and an upper and lower face, one of these faces being in engagement with a spool wheel driving the plate via a belt and the longitudinal edges of the guide plate being guided between a pair of anti-friction bearings. Linear, three-point contact of the guide plate with the bearings and with the spool wheel is insured, regardless of lateral displacement of the guide plate, by mounting the bearings so that they are tiltable, in a plane transverse to the longitudinal movement of the guide plate, by a limited amount.

  • Patent number: 4310865
Abstract: Positioner for the scanning head, mounted on a carriage, in a recording and/or playback apparatus for disk records, with a cable extending between the carriage and the drive motor, and a spring as counterforce, which positioner comprises a pulley, mounted on the carriage, and two pulleys of different diameter which are mounted on the shaft of the drive motor and to which the beginning and end of the cable are fixed, the pulley system operating on the differential pulley principle, so that greater accuracy of positioning is achieved and less torque has to be produced by the motor.

  • Patent number: 4127882
Abstract: A change-over mechanism for disk-shaped recording media, especially for magnetic films in a sleeve, is provided with a magazine and with selector, transport and drive mechanisms which can provide any desired access to any recording medium and permit trouble-free operation. The mechanism can be used for floppy disks and any type of film-like or rigid recording media.

  • Patent number: 4101027
Abstract: A magazine for transport and operation in a device for a plurality of film-like flat recording media, especially of floppy disks. Details of the magazine according to the invention relate to a part which receives the recording medium, a lid, a mechanism for locking the said parts together, and a guide and gripper part.
