  • Publication number: 20100185507
Abstract: An exemplary embodiment provides a computer-implemented method of online marketing. In a server, a node x of a social graph linked to a node y of the social graph is identified through a tie ? comprising a behavior ? of the node y with the social networking website and a profile information ? of the node y with the social networking website. An advertisement relevant to the tie ? is determined. A design ? is applied to the advertisement through an algorithmic analysis in the server of the tie ?. A characteristic of the node y is algorithmically integrated into the advertisement. The advertisement is displayed on a webpage accessible by node x.

  • Publication number: 20090319907
Abstract: The method and system to evaluation of ordered lists to determine similarity between connected users of a network are disclosed. In one embodiment, a method includes presenting a defined list having ‘n’ number of options of a set of items to a user of a network, allocating the set of items of the defined list to a preference list when the user of the network identifies which of the ‘n’ number of options are preferred, determining a preference of the user based on which of the ‘n’ number of options are preferred earlier than other ones of the ‘n’ number of options, generating an ordering of the user in response to the defined list when all the ‘n’ number of options are individually selected and allocated to the preference list by the user based on an order of selection of each of the ‘n’ number of options by the user.

  • Publication number: 20090048921
Abstract: A method, apparatus, and system of user content in advertisements are disclosed. In one embodiment, a method of advertising to a user includes receiving user content from the user, sending the user content to an ad unit, processing the user content (e.g., through applying a facial recognition algorithm to an image), incorporating the user content into an advertisement and displaying the advertisement (e.g., on a website) to the user. The method may further include storing the user content in a server. The method may further include generating the advertisement based on the processing of the user content. In another embodiment, a system for advertising to a user includes a server configured to receive user content from the user, and an ad unit configured to process the user content, incorporate the user content into an advertisement, and transmit the advertisement to the user.

  • Publication number: 20070005702
Abstract: A user interface for email users which calls attention to one or more categories of emails in different ways. In some species, at least three categories are used: branded senders with Trumarks; white list buddies; and fraudulent emails which are either not from the domain they purport to be from or in which the content was tampered. The preferred embodiment authenticates emails from branded senders and displays them with the sender's Truemark. Branded sender emails have their Truemarks displayed in the sender column of a list view in the preferred embodiment. In a preferred embodiment, white list senders have either an icon or other graphic or photo they choose displayed to the left or right of the sender column with their name in the sender column. In a preferred embodiment, fraudulent emails have a fraud icon displayed to the left or right of the sender column with a warning in the sender column. Antiphishing processing is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 5197004
Abstract: A method and apparatus for automatically selecting the job category or categories within which an applicant should be placed using only the applicant's resume is disclosed. The invention accepts as input a computer-readable version of the applicant's resume. An extractor, using a predetermined list of word patterns, the word patterns having been selected as indicative of skill in different job categories and assigned a weight commensurate with its value as an indicator of skill in a particular job catagory or categories, locates those words and word groups found in the resume that match the patterns. The weights of these words or word groups are then summed for each particular job category and the job category or categories having the highest point totals are selected as the most appropriate areas within the applicant should be placed.

  • Patent number: 5164899
Abstract: A method and apparatus which enables a computer to understand and manipulate minimally formatted text of such documents as resumes, purchase order forms, insurance forms, bank statements and similar items is disclosed. The documents are digitized by an optical scanner and translated into ASCII text by an optical character reader. The invention manipulates the digital image of the document to find blocks of contiguous text. After separating the text by block, each block is converted into an ASCII character file. Next, these files are processed by a Grammar, which uses pattern matching techniques and syntax rules to enable the host computer to understand the text. After further manipulation by the invention, the text is either stored or outputted in a form which greatly facilitates its use and readability.
