  • Patent number: 10182934
Abstract: A belt-like hip-girdling pelvic sling device for maintaining a desired amount of tension surrounding a person's hips and pelvis to securely support and stabilize a fractured pelvis, including a force-controlled buckle that automatically latches to control the tension and that includes a releasable latching mechanism. The latching mechanism maintains engagement of the buckle with a strap at the required position of the strap with respect to the buckle. The latching mechanism includes a movable member of the buckle that is moved to and latched in a position in which the buckle engages the strap, once a desired amount of tension is reached, limiting and maintaining the required tension.

  • Patent number: 10173025
Abstract: A system for delivering drug is provided. The system includes an adapter and a device. The adapter is configured to establish fluid communication with a gas conduit of a ventilator circuit. The device includes an actuation member and an actuator. The actuation member is configured to pivot. A canister containing drug is disposed between the adapter and the actuation member. The actuator is engaged to the actuation member such that the actuator selectively causes pivotal movement of the actuation member, causing the actuation member to apply pressure over the canister, thereby causing the canister to deliver drug into the adapter.

  • Patent number: 9028435
Abstract: A junctional and truncal tourniquet and a hip-girdling pelvic sling device for maintaining a desired amount of tension surrounding a person's hips and pelvis to securely support and stabilize a pelvis that has been fractured and for securing a pressure applying device to a person so that blood vessel-occluding pressure can be applied. Areas of mating types of fastener material such as mating hook-bearing fastener material and loop pile fastener material are arranged on the device to enable a strap to be secured at various effective lengths to provide a wide range of adjustability. The device may include inflatable bladders, stays, and a chin support and may be wrapped around a patient's neck as a cervical support collar, or around the torso to occlude blood vessels proximal to an injury on a limb.

  • Patent number: 8926536
Abstract: A junctional and truncal tourniquet and a hip-girdling pelvic sling device for maintaining a desired amount of tension surrounding a person's hips and pelvis to securely support and stabilize a pelvis that has been fractured and for securing a pressure applying device to a person with a preferred amount of tension so that blood vessel-occluding pressure can be applied. Areas of mating types of fastener material such as mating hook-bearing fastener material and loop pile fastener material are arranged on the device to enable a strap to be secured at various effective lengths to provide a wide range of adjustability. The device may include inflatable bladders, and may be wrapped around a patient's torso to occlude blood vessels proximal to an injury on a limb. A bladder may be expandable in distinct tiers and may carry a separate and removable pressure-concentrating fitting. An auxiliary strap may be included and may be used to keep the junctional and truncal tourniquet in place on a patient's torso.

  • Publication number: 20120046582
Abstract: A medical dressing for chest wounds, including a one-way valve that can be covered so as to protect against intrusion of airborne contaminants and to prevent passage of fluids in either direction, and including indicia visible using night vision devices but not visible in visible light to the naked eye in some embodiments. The indicia visible using night vision devices may be included in other medical apparatus, as well, so that the medical dressings or other apparatus can be used effectively during darkness, in combat situations, without being seen by enemy combatants not equipped with night vision devices.
