Abstract: A wine band having an absorbent, elastic and continuous band of material suitably sized to be placed over a lip of a bottle, such as a wine bottle, and around the neck of the bottle, so that the band of material is maintained sufficiently around the neck of the bottle and is sufficiently absorbent to absorb drops of liquid that fall down the neck of the bottle. In another version, the wine band is a non-continuous strip of material that can be placed around the neck of a bottle and in which a fastening mechanism secures the strip of material to the bottle.
