  • Patent number: 9642127
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for relaying a communication in a network, wherein a user equipment (UER) relays a communication between a network node entity (eNB) and a target entity (UET), the method including the steps, generating a logical channel at least between the user equipment relay (UER) and the target entity (UET), and assigning at least one identifier (LC_ID_R) to the logical channel, and upon reception from the network node entity (eNB), at the user equipment relay (UER), of data received with the identifier (LC_ID_R), the user equipment relay (UER) forwards the received data to the target entity (UET).

  • Publication number: 20160381671
Abstract: The present invention provides for a method and related system and communication terminal devices, for assigning a radio resource allocation mode to a mobile radio communications device for device-to-device communication within a wireless communication network environment, the method including the step of identifying at the mobile radio communications device an initial radio resource allocation mode and further including the step of signalling from the network to the mobile radio communications device configuration data relating to an authorized radio resource allocation mode to be employed for the device-to-device communication and defining at least one operation requirement of the mobile radio communications device when employing the said authorized mode.

  • Publication number: 20160183076
Abstract: There is provided a communication system in which a base station controls direct device to device (D2D) communication between communication devices. The base station transmits information identifying a pattern of radio frames designated for communicating D2D signals between communication devices. When the base station receives a request for allocation of resources for transmitting D2D signals by a communication device, it transmits, to the communication device, information identifying the communication resources allocated for the D2D signals within the designated radio frames responsive to the request. The base station also transmits, for receipt by at least one other communication device in a vicinity of the requesting communication device, an indication that D2D signals are to be transmitted.

  • Publication number: 20150173017
Abstract: A system is disclosed in which a mobile telephone provides information to a communication system comprising a plurality of base stations. The mobile telephone establishes its current mobility state, determines whether the current mobility state should be sent to the communication system, generates information identifying its current mobility state if it is determined that the current mobility state should be sent to the communication system, and sends the information identifying its current mobility state to at least one of the plurality of base stations.

  • Patent number: 9020521
Abstract: A communications apparatus capable of detecting a signal transmitted by another apparatus in a first band of spectrum is described. The apparatus identifies at least one second band of spectrum, different from the first band of spectrum, in which no signal is detected and then determines a noise characteristic for the at least one second band of spectrum. The determined noise characteristic may then be used by an energy detector operating in the first band of spectrum to ensure reliable detection of signals transmitted by the other apparatus.
