Abstract: Provided is a process for augmenting a geographic information system. Some examples of the process include comparing, with a computer system, street addresses to a geographic information system to identify addresses having a term that is not recognized by the geographic information system; removing, with the computer system, the term from the identified addresses to form redacted addresses; retrieving, with the computer system, a plurality of geolocations corresponding to the redacted addresses from the index; determining, with the computer system, a bounding area of the plurality of geolocations; and augmenting, with the computer system, the geographic information system with an entry associating the bounding area with the term.
