  • Patent number: 11976259
Abstract: The invention concerns a method for treating lignocellulosic biomass, said method comprising the following steps: a, Preparing an impregnation liquor (4) containing a chemical catalyst intended to impregnate the biomass b. Introducing the crushed biomass (6) through an inlet of an impregnation reactor (5), said inlet being situated in a first impregnation area (5a) of said impregnation reactor that comprises two superposed areas, said first impregnation area and a second so-called dewatering area (5b) above the impregnation area c. Introducing the liquor (4a) through a first liquor inlet situated in said first impregnation area (5a) of the reactor, d. Introducing said liquor (4b) into said reactor through a second liquor inlet in another area of the reactor (5d) situated below the biomass inlet in the first impregnation area (5b). The invention also concerns the facility for implementing the method.

  • Publication number: 20200002482
Abstract: The invention relates to a process for treating a lignocellulosic biomass, with: a. Pretreatment of the biomass via at least one cooking or steam explosion operation, so as to obtain a pretreated substrate, b. Liquid/solid separation on at least a portion of the pretreated substrate, comprising two successive substeps: an upstream substep b1 of contacting the solid/liquid mixture performed with a continuous mixer (M) using a mixing fluid, a downstream sub-step b2 of extraction/washing performed with a continuous filter, using a washing fluid, to obtain a solid phase enriched in solid and a plurality of liquid phases enriched in liquid, with at least partial recycling of a liquid phase extracted from the filter at the inlet of the mixer as a mixing fluid.

  • Patent number: 9605282
Abstract: The process for the production of alcohol and/or solvent from a biomass feedstock comprises the stages for pretreatment (P) of the biomass feedstock, for enzymatic hydrolysis (H1 and HF), and for fermenting the hydrolyzate (HF). To prevent solids from being sent and to facilitate operating the section for purifying the fermentation products, at least a portion of the solid material in the fermentation wine is extracted (Ex1) to obtain a stream of solid residue (11) comprising lignin and a fermentation wine (12) that is low in solid material. Then, the stream of solid residue is washed (L) with a liquid stream to recover a liquid stream that is enriched with fermentation products (16). The liquid stream that is enriched with fermentation products (16) is recycled in the enzymatic hydrolysis stage (H1) to recover any fermentation product and to increase the overall yield of the process.

  • Patent number: 9187770
Abstract: The process for the production of alcohol and/or solvent from a biomass feedstock comprises the stages for pretreatment (P) of the biomass feedstock, for enzymatic hydrolysis (H) of the pretreated substrate, and for fermenting the hydrolyzate (F). To reduce the size of the fermenters, at least a portion of the solid residue contained in the hydrolyzate is extracted (Ex1) in such a way as to obtain a stream of solid residue (9) comprising lignin and a hydrolyzate (8) that is low in solid residue. Then, the stream of solid residue is washed (L) with a liquid stream in such a way as to recover a sugar-enriched liquid stream (15). The sugar-enriched liquid stream (15) is recycled in the enzymatic hydrolysis stage (H) to be able to upgrade the sugars without providing dilution of the streams in the process.
