  • Publication number: 20230011629
Abstract: Processing circuitry associated with an implantable medical device (IMD) may store a value of a shared voltage as a battery voltage threshold. A shared voltage is a voltage magnitude at which the voltage curves for the population of batteries converge at a particular percent depth of discharge (% DoD). The shared voltage is a consistent voltage magnitude across the population of batteries. Based on the indication that the battery has reached the shared voltage, the processing circuitry may determine any or all of: the battery % DoD level, the amount, e.g., the percent of electrical energy remaining in the battery and the amount of time remaining before the battery reaches its end of service life. In some examples, the processing circuitry may output an elective replacement indicator based on the calculated amount of time remaining before the battery reaches its end of service life.

  • Patent number: 8867157
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a perpendicular pole head for creating a perpendicular magnetic moment in a concentrated pattern for writing the pattern on perpendicular magnetic media, such as BaFe based media. The pole head can have flux concentrators in the shape of the written pattern, which can be repeatedly applied to a moving magnetic medium to create a timing pattern on the media, e.g., a servo timing pattern.

  • Publication number: 20070223126
Abstract: In an embodiment, a data storage tape includes a first side including recorded data and a second side including recorded error correcting code data for the recorded data on the first side. In another embodiment, a data storage tape comprises a first side including recorded data and a second side including a copy of the recorded data. Embodiments of the invention may distribute related data across both sides of a data storage tape and as a result may reduce the probability that a location-dependent error in the data storage tape will result in irretrievable data loss. Embodiments of the invention may be particularly useful for systems that can simultaneously retrieve or record data on both sides of a dual-sided data storage tape.

  • Publication number: 20070212576
Abstract: A magnetic recording medium for storing digital data includes a flexible substrate, a first magnetic side, and a second magnetic side. The flexible substrate defines a first surface and a second surface opposite the first surface. The first magnetic side has a resistivity of less than about 2×106 ohms/square and includes a first support layer and a first magnetic layer. The first support layer is substantially non-magnetic and extends over the first surface of the substrate. The first magnetic recording layer extends over the first support layer opposite the substrate. The second magnetic side includes a second support layer and a second magnetic layer. The second support layer is substantially non-magnetic and extends over the second surface of the substrate. The second magnetic recording layer extends over the second support layer opposite the substrate.

  • Publication number: 20050123725
Abstract: Data storage tape includes a substrate having a first side and a second side opposite the first side, a recording layer disposed on the first side of the substrate, and a coating disposed on the second side of the substrate. A surface of the coating has a pattern formed therein such that the pattern communicates with at least one of a first edge and a second edge of the data storage tape.
