  • Patent number: 6159383
Abstract: A filter head having a pump housing, a flow passage network, and a mounting bracket is adaptable to engage a replaceable filter cartridge. An electric pump is positioned within the pump housing. A Seal/isolator disposed between the pump housing and electric pump protects the electric pump from vibrations. After changing the filter cartridge, typically an air pocket forms creating a danger for a fuel injector or fuel injector pump. By using an electronic controller, an operator may remotely operate the electric pump to prime the filter cartridge. Also, the electronic controller may selectively determine whether the fluid flowing from the filter cartridge passes through the electric pump or instead passes directly into an outlet.

  • Patent number: 4404847
Abstract: A fluid conditioning and flow measurement circuit (10) for testing a fuel injection apparatus (12,20). The circuit (10) has a reservoir (58) communicating with a pump (22) which supplies fuel to the injection apparatus (12,20) the flow of which is measured by a calibrated flow meter (44). A first deaeration apparatus (38) communicating with the discharge side (24) of the pump (22) removes entrained and dissolved air in cooperation with a relief valve (36). A second deaeration apparatus (56) in cooperation with the testing apparatus (12,20) further removes entrained and dissolved air thereby enabling accurate flow measurements to be made by the flow meter (44).

  • Patent number: 4398930
Abstract: A fluid deaeration apparatus (10) for removing gas from a circulating fluid having a closed, fluid filled tank (12) for receiving and slowing the fluid. A pressure regulating valve (52) is provided for inducing negative pressure waves in the fluid entering the tank (12) for conditioning the gas in the fluid for removal from the fluid in the tank and for collection and venting of the gas from the tank (12).

  • Patent number: 4387589
Abstract: A test stand (10) having a principal use for testing a fuel pump and associated governor (24), has a drive shaft (16), an inertial weight (30) operatively associated therewith, and apparatus (56) for selectively engaging and disengaging the inertial weight (30) with the drive shaft (16). This test stand (10) solves the technical problems associated with present test stands, which problems include the inability to maintain a constant drive shaft speed for fuel pump calibration, and also the inability to thereafter rapidly increase or decrease said drive shaft speed for purposes of determining the governor response. The apparatus (56) can accommodate misalignment between the drive shaft (16) and the fuel pump (24). The test stand can also include a spline arrangement (108) which also accommodates misalignment between the drive shaft (16) and a cam shaft (99) of the fuel pump (24).
