  • Patent number: 5134800
Abstract: A fishing lure comprising a head, a mechanism for attaching the head to a fishing line, a substantially planar hook having a shank projecting rearwardly from the head and a concave butt portion at the rearward end of the shank terminating in a barb, and a first substantially flat camming surface. The head includes a member constituting a weight. The camming surface forms an exterior surface on the member and lies in a first plane inclined with respect to the plane of the hook. The camming surface is engageable with the closed lips of a fish as the lure moves forwardly in the mouth of the fish to rotate the lure toward a set position wherein the plane of the hook is substantially perpendicular to the floor and roof of the mouth of the fish thereby to facilitate embedment of the hook in the floor or roof of the mouth.

  • Patent number: 5000412
Abstract: A tackle box holder of the present invention comprises an elongate support member, a bracket for pivotally connecting one end of the support member to the pedestal of a boat seat for swinging movement of the support member on a first generally horizontal axis, and a mounting structure at the other end of the support member for mounting a tackle box for pivotal movement of the box on a second generally horizontal axis extending in side-to-side direction with respect to the tackle box. The support member, when pivotally connected to the pedestal of a boat seat, pivots on the first generally horizontal axis between a lowered position in which a tackle box mounted on the support member is adapted to rest on a supporting surface, such as a boat deck, and a raised position in which the tackle box is adapted to rest on the lap of a person sitting in the boat seat.

  • Patent number: 4914847
Abstract: A device for testing the hooking effectiveness of a fishing lure, comprising a frame, a pair of jaws representative of the jaws of a fish mounted on the frame for movement of the jaws toward and away from a closed position, and a resilient mechanism urging the jaws toward their closed position. The arrangement is such that a fishing lure comprising a head and a trailing hook is adapted to be pulled, head first, through the jaws with the jaws moving away from their closed position as the head passes between the jaws and thereafter moving under the bias of the resilient mechanism back toward their closed position. The trailing hook is adapted either to hook one of the jaws indicating that the lure is generally effective for hooking fish or to pass between the jaws without hooking one of the jaws indicating that the lure is less effective for hooking fish.

  • Patent number: 4896422
Abstract: A cutter for cutting fishing line attached to a lure by means of knot, comprising a plate-like member having two generally parallel and substantially planar faces spaced apart a distance corresponding to the thickness of the member, and an outer peripheral edge. Extending inwardly in the member from the peripheral edge is a first slot having a width slightly greater than the cross sectional dimension of the fishing line to permit entry of the fishing line into the slot but less than the cross sectional dimension of the knot to prevent entry of the knot into the slot. A first blade associated with the plate-like member has a cutting edge positioned at the inner end of the first slot whereby fishing line may be entered into the slot and, with the knot bearing against one of the planar faces, pulled against the cutting edge of the first blade to cut the line.

  • Patent number: 4887378
Abstract: A fishing lure comprising a head, an eye for attaching the head to a fishing line, a substantially planar hook having a shank projecting rearwardly from the head, and a concave butt portion at the rearward end of the shank terminating in a barb, and guide arms on the head. The guide arms function to engage the mouth of a fish when the hook is inside the mouth to rotate the lure to a set position wherein the plane of the hook is substantially perpendicular to the floor and roof of the mouth of the fish, and to maintain the lure in the set position thereby to facilitate embedment of the hook in the floor or roof of the mouth.
