  • Publication number: 20020155507
Abstract: Methods, compositions and articles of manufacture for encoding a cell with semiconductor nanocrystals and/or other fluorophors are provided. The encoded cells can be subjected to functional assays in mixed populations, and an assay result can be determined and associated with individual cells by virtue of their code. The methods are particularly useful in multiplex settings where a plurality of encoded cells are to be assayed. The methods are used in screening methods for G protein coupled receptors (GPCRs), for identifying the ligands and functions of orphan GPCRs, and for screening for modulators of GPCRs. Kits comprising reagents for performing such methods are also provided.

  • Patent number: 6465430
Abstract: Receptors are peptides and peptide mimetics that bind to and activate the thrombopoietin receptor. Such peptides and peptide mimetics are useful in methods for treating hematological disorders and particularly, thrombocytopenia resulting from chemotherapy, radiation therapy, or bone marrow transfusions as well as in diagnostic methods employing labeled peptides and peptide mimetics.

  • Patent number: 6309842
Abstract: The invention provides methods for screening libraries of complexes for compounds having a desired property, especially, the capacity to agonize, bind to, or antagonize a cellular receptor. The complexes in such libraries comprise a compound under test, a tag recording at least one step in synthesis of the compound, and a tether susceptible to modification by a reporter molecule. Modification of the tether is used to signify that a complex contains a compound having a desired property. The tag can be decoded to reveal at least one step in the synthesis of such a compound.

  • Patent number: 5922545
Abstract: Improved methods and novel compositions for identifying peptides and single-chain antibodies that bind to predetermined receptors or epitopes. Such peptides and antibodies are identified by improved and novel methods for affinity screening of polysomes displaying nascent peptides.
