  • Patent number: 11864504
Abstract: In a flow system and method, a fluid delivery pipe is connected in series between a fluid distributor and a fluid valve that is connected in series between a fluid source and the fluid distributor. A controller, disposed remote from the fluid delivery pipe, can be programmed or configured to control the fluid value via a communication channel or communication network. A hydrogenerator, powered by fluid running from the fluid source to the fluid distributor, can charge a battery that can power a radio to wirelessly transmit flow data to the controller. The controller can control the open and close states of the fluid valve based on the wirelessly transmitted flow data received by the controller to control an amount of fluid delivered by the fluid delivery pipe, for example, for controlled irrigation of an area to a desired extent.

  • Publication number: 20220196449
Abstract: A flow system includes a flow sensor, a first pipe configured to transport fluid from an upstream fluid source to the flow sensor, and a second, separate pipe configured to transport fluid from the flow sensor to a downstream fluid distributor. Proximate the flow sensor, the first pipe has a first interior diameter and the second pipe has a second interior diameter. The flow system further includes at least one of the following: a flow diversion or flow obstruction positioned between the flow sensor and the upstream fluid source a distance or length from the flow sensor that is less than ten times the first interior diameter of the first pipe and/or a flow diversion or flow obstruction positioned between the flow sensor and the downstream fluid distributor a distance or length from the flow sensor that is less than five times the second interior diameter of the second pipe.

  • Publication number: 20220124993
Abstract: In a flow system, a flow sensor conducts fluid between a source and a distributor. The flow sensor outputs to a processor an electrical signal related to a velocity or volume of fluid flowing by, proximate to, or through the flow sensor. A fluid valve is connected to conduct a fluid between the flow sensor and the fluid distributor The processor determines, based on the electrical signal: the volume of fluid flowing by, proximate to, or through the flow sensor; and a second electrical signal, and outputs the second electrical signal to an irrigation controller. The processor includes a radio for wirelessly communicating the determined volume to a remote server via a smart device that includes a first radio for receiving the determined volume from the processor and a second radio for uploaded or transmitting the determined volume received by the smart device to the remote server.

  • Patent number: 9756797
Abstract: In an irrigation system and method, a controller acquires data regarding soil moisture from one or more soil moisture sensors disposed in an irrigation area and determines whether to irrigate or withhold irrigation from the irrigation area based on a combination of evapotranspiration (ET) data and the acquired soil moisture data. An irrigation means is responsive to the controller determining whether to apply or withhold irrigation from the irrigation area for respectively applying or withholding irrigation from the irrigation area.

  • Publication number: 20020059005
Abstract: A method of providing process control instructions to an irrigation site using a smart card. Instructions for adjusting equipment of an irrigation system are stored on a smart card at a remote location. The smart card is transported to the irrigation site. The stored instructions are read from the smart card and downloaded to a control computer. The computer adjusts the process conditions for the irrigation system based on the downloaded instructions.

  • Patent number: 5839658
Abstract: A method of retrofitting existing irrigation systems is disclosed. An irrigation system having a control circuit of water supply and a plurality of valve assemblies including communication with the water supply is provided. The control circuit has a centralized controller, a plurality of independent valve control lines extending between the controller and each of the valve assemblies and a return line extending from each of the valve assemblies to the controller. According to the method, a terminal strip is installed within the controller and connects each of the valve control lines together, wherein each valve control line receives the same signal from the controller. An encoder is installed within the controller and a decoder is installed in series with each valve assembly.
