Patents by Inventor Larry Carson

Larry Carson has filed for patents to protect the following inventions. This listing includes patent applications that are pending as well as patents that have already been granted by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

  • Publication number: 20070075022
Abstract: A single pass simulated moving bed apparatus and methods are described for continuously separating a target molecule from a liquid mixture, using a simulated moving bed system. The simulated moving bed system includes a plurality of filter cartridge modules in serial fluid communication. Each filter cartridge module includes a volume of stationary phase particulates adjacent a porous substrate layer. The volume of stationary phase particulates has a bed height of less than 1 centimeter.

    Publication date: April 5, 2007
Inventors: Kelly Gibbens, Masayuki Nakamura, Kannan Seshadri, Andrew Rabins, Larry Carson, Robert Fitzsimons
  • Publication number: 20070065344
Abstract: An analytical cell including a lightguide with a plurality of conduits filled with a migration medium. The medium, the lightguide and a surrounding medium have refractive indices selected such that light entering the lightguide is internally reflected within the lightguide to provide substantially uniform illumination of the conduits.

The simulated moving bed system includes a plurality of filter cartridge modules in serial fluid communication. Each filter cartridge module includes a volume of stationary phase particulates adjacent a porous substrate layer. Each filter cartridge module also includes recirculation piping in fluid connection with a filter cartridge outlet and a filter cartridge inlet.

  • Publication number: 20060070950
Abstract: A composite filter medium comprising a filter element comprising at least one porous fibrous filtration layer, and at least one layer of a sorbent, stationary phase particulates selected from organic or inorganic particulates having an average diameter of less than 50 micrometers, soft particulates, and ground monolithic particulates. The particulates are capable of binding target molecule by, for example, adsorption, ion exchange, hydrophobic binding, and affinity binding. The particulates provide higher binding capacities than can be achieved using filter media incorporating conventional process scale chromatography resin particulates.

  • Patent number: 6689956
Abstract: An electrical bus system is disclosed in which first and second bus bar assemblies are provided for conducting electrical currents of respective first and second polarities. A bus duct enclosure is provided for enclosing the bus bar assemblies. The bus duct enclosure is adapted to provide a heat dissipative configuration. In one aspect of the invention, the bus duct enclosure can be formed of a substantially polycarbonate material, for providing conductive heat dissipation from the bus bar assemblies.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 5, 2002
Date of Patent: February 10, 2004
Assignee: Southwestern Battery Supply Company, Inc.
Inventors: Robert T. Alexander, Larry A. Carson, Lloyd D. Sparks, John T. Leding
