  • Patent number: 5988281
Abstract: The present invention provides for the connection of a pressure balanced stab and a manifold in which offsetting forces maintained on the stab allow it to remain in an inserted state within the manifold without the use of a significant amount of force to maintain the connection. The offsetting forces are contained within the stab through the use of C-ring seals on the stab, which are activated by a downward force created by an actuator. The compression of the C-rings is delayed until insertion is complete, therefore allowing an installation which does not damage the seals. The O-ring designs, used in prior pressure balanced stabs, are likely to be damaged upon insertion of the stab into the receptacle. The damage to the O-ring seals takes place when the O-ring, partially protruding from the stab, makes contact with the surface of the receptacle in such a manner that causes the O-ring seal to tear or become manipulated in a way that creates an ineffective seal.

  • Patent number: 5738172
Abstract: The invention relates to a filter which is useable in conjunction with subsea hydraulic control circuits. The filters incorporated in a housing which can be stabbed in or out of a control unit to become part of one or more fluid control circuits. The stab-type housing can be inserted with a remotely operated vehicle. Other configurations involve long, slender housings for use with subsurface safety valve control lines as well as with tubing hanger housings. The slender design allows mounting right on the production tubing. A rupture disc feature is available so that if excessive pressure differential is obtained due to clogging, the filter unit within the housing can be bypassed to allow continuing operation.

  • Patent number: 5469528
Abstract: A system and method for controlling the generation and distribution of power is disclosed. The system includes monitoring devices which acquire load data indicative of the system load. The load data are converted into patterns which are fed into a neural load analyzer configured to classify the patterns. The generators of the power system are controlled responsive to the resulting classifications.

  • Patent number: 4707041
Abstract: A subsea well electrical coupling engagement system allows control modules in a subsea well platform to be remotely and electrically coupled to each other. Each control module has an electrical housing that extends laterally outward, the housing having at least one coupling on its outer end for inductively coupling with an adjacent module. The housing is mounted flexibly to the control module. A guide shoe located on the platform engages the lower side of the electrical housing to orient it. A latch rod located in each module latches the module in its receptacle. The latch rod when moved downwardly moves a linkage assembly to push the electrical housing outward into an engaged position.

  • Patent number: 4640163
Abstract: A safety joint for a multitube hose bundle which separates and severs the control hoses when a predetermined tension is exceeded. The control hoses are severed by a rotating cutting blade activated by a pin in cam slot which rotates the cutting blade upon separation of the safety joint.
