  • Patent number: 5129447
Abstract: A fluid cooled thermal skin is bolted to a sufficient back structure. In-line coolant flow paths are arranged to pass the cooling fluid through the bolt head. The in-line paths are recessed adjacent the bolt head to mate with flow openings in the head. In one embodiment the paths through the bolt head are parallel paths, requiring alignment of the bolt head. In another embodiment alignment of the bolt head is not required.

  • Patent number: 4966229
Abstract: Heat pipe (10) includes an acute angle leading wedge shape form (38) with a radiused leading edge (26). Engine fuel supply (65) cools the trailing wedge shape form (40). The intense heat flux at the leading edge is cleanly dissipated and spread over substantial heat pipe cooling surface (64, 66). A coating (36) on the external surface of the leading edge wedge shape form is formed of a layer of iridium and a layer of oxide.

  • Patent number: 4784572
Abstract: A rotor has an inner disk member including a web and a circumferential widened outer portion. A blade member has a continuous circumferential inner edge. At least one of the members has a plurality of axially spaced circumferential rings extending toward the other member. The two members are diffusion bonded together. A stiff lightweight assembly is achieved.
