Patent number: 9423201Abstract: A compound bow includes a first and second pulley, each of which is operative, when the bow is drawn, to unwind a portion of a bow string from a bow string groove and to take up a portion of a bow cable so as to decrease its effective length. At least one of the pulleys includes a cable controller which operates to modify the rate at which the effective length of the bow cable is decreasing so that during an initial portion of the draw of the bow, the rate is greater than it would be in the absence of the controller, and during a second portion of the draw, the rate is less than it would be in the absence of the controller. Use of the controller provides a bow which has an inherently balanced draw.Type: GrantFiled: December 30, 2014Date of Patent: August 23, 2016Assignee: MCP IP, LLCInventor: Larry D. Miller

Publication number: 20160151664Abstract: An elliptical exercise device has a frame supporting guide links and foot support links. A cam system has a vertical control cam portion. Vertical control followers are pivotally connected to a vertical follower support. Mechanical vertical control couplings couple the foot support links to the vertical control followers. A foot receiving area of each foot support link moves in a generally elliptical path when the cam portion rotates about the cam axis.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 28, 2016Publication date: June 2, 2016Applicant: Lary D. Publication number: 20160151663Abstract: An elliptical exercise device has a frame and guide link pivotally attached thereto. A foot support link is pivotally connected to a lower attachment point of each guide link so that when the guide links pivot relative to the frame, foot receiving areas of the foot support links move in a path of travel having a horizontal component of motion. A cam drive has cams supported for rotation about an axis of rotation and pivoting arms each engaging one of the cams such that rotation of the cams causes movement of the pivoting arms. Flexible elements couple the foot support links to the pivoting arms such that rotation of the cams moves the foot receiving areas of the respective foot support links in a path of travel having a vertical component of motion.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 28, 2016Publication date: June 2, 2016Applicant: Larry D. Miller TrustInventor: Larry D. Miller

Patent number: 9061175Abstract: An exercise device has a frame supporting guide links and foot support links. A cam system has a vertical control cam portion with a first and second offset vertical drive portion. Vertical control followers are pivotally connected to a vertical follower support and each has a control portion and a cam engagement portion engaging a vertical drive portion. Vertical control couplings couple the foot support links to the control portions of the vertical control followers. Pivotal motion of the guide links is decoupled from motion of the foot receiving areas along the path of travel having a vertical component of motion so that the user can achieve a foot path that is generally vertical or a blend of vertical and horizontal motion.Type: GrantFiled: March 10, 2015Date of Patent: June 23, 2015Assignee: Larry D. Patent number: 8740754Abstract: An adaptive exercise device provides for a foot motion in which the vertical component of the path of foot travel is mechanically decoupled from the fore-aft component of the path of foot travel so that a user may selectably control the ratio of these two components during the use of the device. The adaptive exercise device includes foot links which are supported on a track for motion therealong. The links are mechanically interconnected so that when a first link moves in a first direction along the track, the second link moves in an equal and opposite direction. The apparatus further includes a vertical motion control system which raises and lowers portions of each of the foot links along a vertical path of travel independent of their position along the track.Type: GrantFiled: January 10, 2011Date of Patent: June 3, 2014Inventor: Larry D. Miller
