  • Patent number: 9956493
Abstract: Assemblies combining a structure, such as a structure defined by magnetic connector pieces, with a slide assembly. In some embodiments, the slide assembly may comprise a plurality of slide pieces configured to be coupled together so as to define a slide configured to receive and direct one or more slideable pieces, such as balls, therein. The slide assembly may further comprise a plurality of slide coupling members configured to couple at least a subset of the plurality of slide pieces to the structure. The plurality of slide pieces may comprise a plurality of coupling joints configured to couple two adjacent slide pieces of the plurality of slide pieces together. Each of at least a subset of the plurality of coupling joints may be configured to be positioned at the same location in at least one dimension with respect to an adjacent structure piece upon being coupled with the structure.

  • Patent number: 8458863
Abstract: A magnetic connector apparatus may comprise one or more magnet housings, each of which may comprise one or more magnets positioned therein to rotate within the magnet housing(s). The apparatus may be configured using one or more safety features in order to prevent access and/or removal of the magnet(s). In some embodiments, the apparatus may further comprise an inner retainer piece coupled with the one or more magnet housings, a first outer housing piece coupled with the inner retainer piece, and a second outer housing piece coupled with the inner retainer piece. The first outer housing piece may be positioned on an opposite side of the connector apparatus from the second outer housing piece such that the inner retainer piece is positioned in between the first outer housing piece and the second outer housing piece. Novel methods for manufacturing a magnetic connector apparatus are also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20130111710
Abstract: A universal connector apparatus may comprise a connection member having one or more connection edges. One or more multi-pole magnetic assemblies may be rotatably secured adjacent one or more of the connection edges. Each multi-pole magnetic assembly may be configured to rotate about a longitudinal axis in order to align opposite polarities and magnetically link the respective connection edge with a connection edge of another connector apparatus or other magnetic form. According to various embodiments, each multi-pole magnetic assembly may include a first half and a second half extending along a longitudinal axis. The first half may include a plurality of magnetic sections of alternating polarities and the second half may include a corresponding number of magnetic sections each having a polarity opposite that of an adjacent magnetic section in the first half.

  • Patent number: 7154363
Abstract: A magnetic connector apparatus provides a plurality of magnetic connector bodies in various different forms for magnetic connection of two or more bodies together along mutually-confronting, longitudinally-elongated, linear peripheral border edges, each linear peripheral border edge having at least one particularly-configured longitudinally elongated, cylindrical magnet supported adjacent thereto for rotation of the magnet adjacent said peripheral edge of each connector body for orientation of the magnetic polarity of magnets of confronting connector bodies for mutual magnetic attraction along, mutually confronting, linear peripheral border edges of magnetic connector bodies.

  • Publication number: 20040116038
Abstract: The devise described herein relates to connecting plural multi-shaped non metallic bodies utilizing disc shaped permanent magnets. The invention consists of disc magnets with axial orientation. The disc magnets are adhered within the center of a plastic bearing. The shape of the plastic bearing consists of a spherical segment relative to the height of the disc magnet creating a pivot point in the center of the disc magnet. Magnet and bearing combinations are placed into the spherical segment cavities reset into the plural bodies. When plural bodies containing the magnet bearing combination are placed close enough to over lap the flux field of each magnet the reaction will be instantaneous rotation of the opposing magnets to there position of attraction and subsequently connecting the bodies together.
