  • Patent number: 11021676
Abstract: Wax compositions are provided with improved properties for various applications, such as coating of composite cellulosic materials, e.g., composite wood material, more specifically oriented strand board. As described herein, wax compositions include a kinematic viscosity measured at 100° C. of ?13.1 mm2/s; and a contact angle on glass of ?34.4°, which provide enhanced water proofing properties. The wax composition may have a flash point of greater than 450° F. Wax composition are provided with improved properties for candle jars. As described herein, candle jar wax compositions include 150N foots oil and 600N slack wax. The wax composition can include up to about 80% 150N foots oil.

  • Publication number: 20200199464
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for producing naphthenic compositions corresponding to various types of products, such as naphthenic base oil, specialty industrial oils, and/or hydrocarbon fluids. The methods of producing the naphthenic compositions can include exposing a heavy fraction from a fluid catalytic cracking (FCC) process, such as a FCC bottoms fraction (i.e., a catalytic slurry oil), to hydroprocessing conditions corresponding to hydrotreating and/or aromatic saturation conditions. Naphthenic compositions formed from processing of FCC fractions are also provided.

  • Patent number: 10351731
Abstract: Wax compositions are provided with improved properties for various applications, such as coating of corrugated cardboard or other cellulosic paper materials. As described herein, paraffin waxes having a very broad molecular weight distribution are provided, e.g., 95% carbon number spread of at least 18 carbon atoms, which result in wax compositions with a relatively hard needle penetration value, suitable blend kinematic viscosity, and provide equivalent or better wet strength and water proofing properties as compared to waxes currently commercially used in corrugated coating. The paraffin wax compositions described herein also provide a higher congealing point, thereby benefiting the high temperature properties such as oil bleed, appearance and friction coefficient of the corrugating wax coating.

  • Publication number: 20190031972
Abstract: A wax composition can be incorporated into a biomass mixture, such as a woody biomass mixture, for formation of pellets, such as wood fuel pellets. The addition of wax compositions with suitable amounts of n-paraffins relative to the amount of oil-in-wax can result in biomass pellets with improved properties, such as improved durability and/or reduced tendency to uptake moisture during storage. Addition of a suitable wax composition can also allow for formation of biomass pellets with improved properties while also reducing or minimizing the power requirements during pellet formation.

  • Patent number: 10030171
Abstract: Wax compositions are provided with improved properties for various applications, such as coating of composite cellulosic materials, e.g., composite wood material, particleboard, medium density fiberboard, construction board or combination thereof. As described herein, paraffin wax compositions are provided that have n-paraffin content of from about 30% wt to about 95% wt, and a 95% carbon number spread of from about 1 carbon atoms to about 23 carbon atoms, which provide enhanced water proofing properties as compared to waxes currently used.

  • Publication number: 20160264780
Abstract: Finished wax compositions with low aromatic content and high oil contents may be suitable for use in candle applications and/or food packaging and other food grade quality applications despite such high oil contents. Such wax compositions can reduce the need for wax refinement and/or post-processing, such as de-oiling, and increase the ease and efficiency of batch preparation and large volume manufacture.
