Abstract: A solid state vehicle securing and lockout prevention system for an automobile having power operated accessories such as automatic door lock, power door windows, power roof window, power trunk release, power hood release, power antenna control, and a horn selectively identifies authorized users to enable operation of the ignition, prevents lockout of the operator, and secures the vehicle and its accessories upon departing from the vehicle. A card reader for use with encoded cards is utilized to enable the system. A mechanical switch at the ignition assembly is utilized to detect the presence of the key in the ignition for lockout prevention by reopening any locked door and sounding the horn to alert the operator should the key remain in the ignition inadvertently. The mechanical door switches are utilized to determine whether to activate the vehicle securing controls for the door locks, windows, and sunroof in timed sequences.
