Publication number: 20130255187Abstract: A height-adjustable capping chuck assembly is configured for use with an associated high-speed, automated capping machine for threadingly applying closures to associated containers. The chuck assembly includes a chuck body defining a cavity for receiving a closure to be applied, and a chuck mounting sleeve by which the chuck body is mounted on the associated capping machine. An adjustable interface, preferably in the form of a threaded connection, joins the chuck body to the chuck mounting sleeve so that the height of the chuck body with respect to the associated machine can be selectively varied. A releasable locking mechanism releasably retains the chuck body in the selected orientation with respect to the chuck mounting sleeve, whereby height adjustment can be readily effected without tools, and without replacement of the capping chuck assembly, or other components.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 3, 2013Publication date: October 3, 2013Applicant: Closure Systems International, Inc.Inventors: Karl E. Zemlin, Larry Ellis, Frank William Faulkenberg

Patent number: 8296019Abstract: A control system for a mobile excavation machine is disclosed. The control system may include a ground engaging work tool, a sensor, and a controller. The sensor may be configured to sense a parameter indicative of a current travel speed of the mobile excavation machine and generate a speed signal in response thereto. The controller may be in communication with the ground engaging work tool and the sensor, and configured to receive the signal. The controller may also be configured to determine a cutting depth of the ground engaging work tool into a material and calculate a current productivity value associated with removal of the material based on the speed signal and the determined cutting depth. The controller may be further configured to control the ground engaging work tool to vary the amount of material currently being removed in response to the current productivity value.Type: GrantFiled: September 25, 2007Date of Patent: October 23, 2012Assignee: Caterpillar Inc.Inventor: Larry Ellis Kendrick

Patent number: 7743779Abstract: A mobility aid (FIG. 1) design for providing stabilized mobility support by the practical use of a two sided vertically supported rigid frame comprising front and rear bilaterally double support members (12), (12a), (13), (13a), (15), and (15a), and not limited to but preferably of aluminum construction to include a plurality of upper and lower substantially identical bilaterally horizontal and vertical tubular main frame members (17), (18), (19), (20), (22), (27), (28), and (29), supported on a plurality of sufficiently sized wheels (26), and (30), attached to the underside of the main frame (26), and (30), with predetermined spacing. Base members (22), (28), and (29), are sufficiently elevated-providing for unhindered foot movement during mobilization. A guide wheel assembly (23), (25), (25b), (26), and (26a), is vertically attached at a contiguously anterior junction surface of the two sided main frame assembly (20), and (23), thereby providing selective directional steering.Type: GrantFiled: January 16, 2008Date of Patent: June 29, 2010Inventor: Larry Ellis Gee, Sr.

Patent number: 7603828Abstract: The present invention provides a novel cam-actuated spindle assembly for selectively attaching a cam follower to a capping spindle. By adjusting the assembly, the user can easily adjust a capping spindle to follow a selected one of different tracks that are formed into a barrel cam. This simplifies the process of adjusting a bottle capping or corking machine to accommodate a variety of products with different types and sizes of closures and bottles. The mounting assembly weighs considerably less than a spindle or barrel cam, and therefore, is considerably easier to reposition and adjust. There is no need to remove the barrel cam or change out the spindle, which significantly reduces costs, down-time, and manpower requirements. The mounting assembly is designed to be compatible with existing bottle capping equipment.Type: GrantFiled: April 26, 2006Date of Patent: October 20, 2009Assignee: Alcoa Closure Systems International, Inc.Inventors: Karl Ostermann, Larry Ellis, Chris Oyer

Publication number: 20060168057Abstract: An asynchronous proxy server system interposed between sender and recipient mail transfer agents, or other agent on the sender side, is configured to classify outgoing mail. Message and message header information is processed and compared against a set of business rules. The message header is modified to reflect an assertion based on an outcome of the comparison. The modified outgoing message is then routed to its destination.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 6, 2005Publication date: July 27, 2006Inventors: Douglas Warren, Carl Gutekunst, Des Cahill, Scott Boyd, Larry Ellis, Charles Swenberg, Josh Stivers

Publication number: 20050077216Abstract: An object sorting and orienting apparatus is for sorting, orienting and discharging a plurality of objects, such as, container closures dispensed from a hopper. An endless conveyor transports the closures from a loading area, through an intermediate area, to a discharge area. At least one regulator, including an adjustable spill-plate, regulates the effects of object fill-level within the hopper during a sorting run. Orienting means, including an extension of the adjustable spill-plate and a plurality of flights on the endless conveyor, arrange the closures in a correct orientation. Sorting means, including a belt path disruptor and a substantially vertical belt path, sort incorrectly oriented closures from correctly oriented closures. Discharge means, including a removal device and at least one discharge chute, discharge correctly oriented closures from the discharge area.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 10, 2003Publication date: April 14, 2005Inventors: Karl Zemlin, Larry Ellis

Publication number: 20050028487Abstract: A capping and nitrogen dosing apparatus for containers includes a rotary capping machine which is configured to serially receive filled containers, and apply closures to respective ones of the containers. The present apparatus includes a dosing system for injecting an inert gas, typically nitrogen in liquid form, into the head space of each container to enhance the integrity and rigidity of the package, and to improve the freshness and flavor of the container's contents. Notably, the dosing system is configured to effect nitrogen injection close to or at the so-called transfer point of the capping machine, thus desirably abating nitrogen dissipation, and enhancing consistent and efficient product dosing.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 6, 2003Publication date: February 10, 2005Inventors: Bernard Winters, William Moll, Larry Ellis
