  • Patent number: 7469847
Abstract: Efficient process control of a rotary breaker is dependent upon the rate at which aggregate material is delivered to the rotary breaker. An improved pre-screening apparatus provides enhanced control of the amount of undersized material allowed to bypass the rotary breaker, thus allows some control of feed rate other than the upstream mining conditions. Further, a variable speed drive mechanism allows for enhanced control of the breaking process occurring within the rotary breaker. These improvements allow for the increase in maximum feed rate to an existing rotary breaker or allows for the installation of smaller and more economical original equipment. In addition, an improved discharge mechanism is provided to increase the discharge rates of a breaker without varying size or speed of rotation. These improvements allow for advanced automated process control.

  • Patent number: 7234468
Abstract: A method for treating a compression fracture in a bone includes the step of forming a transverse cavity and then applying a force within the cavity generally normal to a surface of the bone to restore it substantially to its normal anatomic shape. In certain embodiments, the force is applied by an expandable device.

Abstract: A surgical instrument for creating and preparing a cavity in a bony intervertebral body is provided with asymmetrical cutting structures. These asymmetrical cutting structures selectively open a cavity which has a relatively large surface area in the vertical direction. In one embodiment, the cutting structure includes a shearing element that sweeps out a cutting arc that is larger than the instrument delivery area.

  • Publication number: 20040124984
Abstract: An apparatus for supporting and holding a fishing rod that includes a sensing device to detect a fish strike and an alarm to signal the fish strike audibly and/or visually to the user. Then invention includes a structure that holds and supports the fishing rod in an upright position. The handle of the fishing rod is placed in a tubular fishing rod holder. A fish strike pulls the tip of the fishing rod down, thereby forcing the proximal end of the handle of the fishing rod up within the fishing rod holder. The fishing rod handle activates a switch which closes an electric circuit. An alarm is in turn connected to the tubular fishing rod holder. When a fish strikes, and the switch is activated, a circuit is closed, activating the alarm and producing an audio and/or visual signal. The device permits the user to select among two or more distinct audio alarms, thereby allowing multiple users to operate the invention in the same location at the same time.
