Patent number: 8789392Abstract: An apparatus for shaping a glass sheet includes an engagement member including a flexible bumper comprising a flexible material. The flexible bumper is configured to operate at the forming temperature to reduce an impact stress between the engagement member and the edge portion of the glass sheet. In another example, an apparatus for shaping a sheet of glass includes a push member configured to engage an end edge portion of the glass sheet to push the glass sheet to be transported over the support surface. The push member includes a push flange extending in a direction away from the support surface. The push flange includes a plurality of apertures configured to increase the resistance of conductive heat transfer between the end edge portion of the glass sheet and the push member. In a further example an engagement member can fabricated from a material having a coefficient of thermal conductivity that is less than a coefficient of thermal conductivity of the stainless steel.Type: GrantFiled: May 31, 2012Date of Patent: July 29, 2014Assignee: Corning IncorporatedInventors: Thomas M. Cleary, Larry G. Smith, John C. Thomas

Publication number: 20080194517Abstract: An equine or canine immunomodulating composition comprises a pre-packaged, feed supplement comprising effective amounts of a beta-glucan mixture which is at least 60 percent purified. The feed supplement may be a dry feed supplement further including (b) an effective amount of at least one flavoring, and (c) an effective amount of a sweetener. The feed supplement may include an effective amount of an antioxidant; and an effective amount of an emulsifier. An alternative composition further comprises an appetite stimulant. A method of treating equine or canine microbial infections following the diagnosis of a microbial infection comprises the step of treating the equine or canine for a period at least long enough to prevent immediate recurrence of the microbial infection with effective amounts of the immunomodulating composition described above. The immunomodulating composition may alternatively be used in combination with an effective amount of an antibiotic.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 11, 2008Publication date: August 14, 2008Applicant: L.C.M. Patent number: 5070533Abstract: Electrical heating system for mineral wells, particularly oil wells, in which the reservoir or "pay zone" is heat stimulated or some well components (e.g., the tubing) are heated, or both, by electrical power supplied to a multi-perforate electrode have the operating efficiency enhanced by effectively terminating the heating electrode, at both its top and bottom, at a distance inwardly of the pay zone equal to at least three times the diameter of the well casing. In some systems the electrical power connection to the main heating electrode is made through a section of the production tubing of the well, with an electrical contactor interconnecting the tubing and the electrode in the level of the pay zone; these systems also provide electrical isolation, within critical height limits, for the production tubing and the pump rod. Delivery of electrical power downhole of the well may be accomplished through an electrical cable, which may or may not be appropriately armored.Type: GrantFiled: November 7, 1990Date of Patent: December 3, 1991Assignee: Uentech CorporationInventors: Jack E. Patent number: 4417662Abstract: A continuous series of vials carried by their caps on reciprocable vacuum chucks on a turret move continuously (a) through a gross visual inspection station while slowly rotated and under side, top, and back lighting, and with each vial in an intense beam of light from below which moves with the vial; (b) then, while raised into stabilizing cups, across a spinner belt which rotates the cups and vials at high speed; and (c) then, while stopped with their contents rotating, through a particulate visual inspection station with similar lighting for observation of foreign matter suspended in the contents. Inspectors have unrestricted view of each entire vial, except only for the top of the cap, in a continuous series for comparison or pattern inspection and can, with a finger, tap defective vials off the chucks to a reject conveyor for reinspection.Type: GrantFiled: May 4, 1981Date of Patent: November 29, 1983Assignee: Eli Lilly and CompanyInventors: David W. Patent number: 4388740Abstract: A method for applying a foam composition containing a coloring agent randomly dispersed therein onto a textile fabric. The coloring agent is mixed into the foam in a non-homogeneous manner and deposited onto a fabric in a system having a depositing means which is rotated and moved transverse to the direction of travel of the fabric being treated so as to achieve substantially random motion with respect to the fabric. The foam-coloring agent composition is caused to flow axially and in one embodiment over the edges of a baffle means in a random manner onto the textile fabric being treated so as to impart a random application of the coloring agent thereon.Type: GrantFiled: September 2, 1980Date of Patent: June 21, 1983Assignee: United Merchants & Manufacturers, Inc.Inventor: Larry G. Patent number: 4282729Abstract: A method and apparatus for randomly applying a foam composition containing a coloring agent dispersed therein onto a textile fabric is disclosed. The coloring agent is mixed into the foam in a non-homogeneous manner and randomly applied onto a fabric in a system having random application means for delivering the foam-coloring agent composition to a depositing means which is rotated and moved transverse to the direction of travel of the fabric being treated. The foam-coloring agent composition is caused to flow axially and in one embodiment over the edges of a baffle means in a random manner onto the textile fabric being treated so as to impart a random application of the coloring agent thereon.Type: GrantFiled: September 28, 1979Date of Patent: August 11, 1981Assignee: United Merchants and Manufacturers, Inc.Inventor: Larry G. Patent number: 4136153Abstract: This invention relates to the substantial reduction of emission of noxious gases into the atmosphere. More specifically, this invention relates to a system for saturating mist eliminators in conjunction with the sulfuric acid plant to remove SO.sub.3 gas during an upset condition upstream of the mist eliminators. The system involves the spraying of sulfuric acid onto conventional mist eliminators to substantially saturate the same so that when contact is made with the mist eliminators by the SO.sub.3 gas the same will be absorbed and be removed and will be prevented from being emitted to the atmosphere.Type: GrantFiled: February 21, 1975Date of Patent: January 23, 1979Assignee: Stauffer Chemical CompanyInventors: Terrence M.
