  • Patent number: 11584855
Abstract: The invention is a coating for agricultural products, which includes at least 10% of renewably sourced and biodegradable sugar esters. The invention is also a method of making a coated agricultural product, including the steps of providing a coating composition comprising at least 10% of a renewably sourced and biodegradable sugar ester, heating the coating composition to a temperature to reduce its viscosity to below about 100 cP, adding the coating composition to an agricultural product to form a mixture, and cooling the mixture to produce a coated agricultural product. The invention is also a method of reducing dust released from an agricultural product that includes the step of providing a coating composition comprising at least 10% of a renewable sourced and biodegradable sugar ester. Enough of the coating composition is added to the agricultural product to reduce the amount of dust released from the agricultural product by at least half.

  • Patent number: 8537066
Abstract: The antenna assembly includes first and second adjacent antenna elements each having a tapered or conical antenna body with a base and an apex opposite the base. An elongated or cylindrical antenna body extends from the base of the conical antenna body, and includes a plurality of adjacent elongated or cylindrical antenna body portions, and a respective dielectric member separating adjacent cylindrical antenna body portions. Each of the first and second adjacent antenna elements are aligned along a common longitudinal axis with respective apexes in opposing relation to define a dipole antenna. Increased radiation pattern bandwidth and satisfactory pattern on the horizon may be achieved in such a biconical-type antenna.

  • Patent number: 8314744
Abstract: An antenna assembly may include first and second adjacent antenna elements each including a conical antenna body having a base and an apex opposite the base. The antenna assembly may also include a cylindrical antenna body extending from the base of the conical antenna body, and a choke assembly including a choke shaft having a proximal end coupled to the conical antenna body and a distal end opposite the proximal end. The choke assembly may include at least one choke member carried by the distal end of the choke shaft in longitudinally spaced relation from an opposing end of the cylindrical antenna body to define at least one choke slot. • Patent number: 7068219
Abstract: A phased array antenna may include a plurality of antenna elements, at least one respective phase shifter connected to each antenna element, and at least one respective gain element connected to each antenna element. The phased array antenna may further include at least one controller for determining and controlling both phases and gains of the phase shifters and gain elements, respectively, to provide beamsteering in a first direction for a signal of interest. The controller may also iteratively determine and control phases of the phase shifters to provide a null in a second direction for a signal not of interest, and without determining or controlling gains of the gain elements.

  • Patent number: 6243052
Abstract: A phased array antenna has a spatially periodic array of tapered pitch helical antenna elements disposed on a first side of a panel, and RF interface circuitry on a second side the panel. For a ‘pseudo’-monopulse tracking mode of operation, single bit, digitally controlled phase shift elements of the RF circuitry impart sequentially different amounts of phase shift to the energy derived from the spatial sections of the antenna elements. This causes a sequential electrical tilting of the beam pattern of the array in a plurality of respectively different directions relative to boresight. For each sequential tilt of the beam pattern, signals representative of the energy received by each of plural quadrants of the array are summed and stored.

  • Patent number: 6166709
Abstract: A broad beam helical antenna contains a monofilar winding of a constant helical diameter and large valued pitch angle. The diameter of the helical antenna is defined such that its circumference is slightly less than one wavelength of the circular polarized radio waves. The pitch angle lies in a relatively high range on the order of 18.degree. to 24.degree.. These parameters provide a generally uniform gain over a relatively wide beam angle on the order of 60.degree. off boresight. Such gain-uniformity facilitates maintaining a link between a satellite and mobile platform-mounted communication equipment.
