  • Patent number: 7609203
Abstract: The present invention generally relates to the transmission of GPS reference information, and more particularly, to transmission of GPS ephemeris information for mobile applications. A Telemetry word data is provided by and/or transmitted by a non-cellular, land based network and received by a receiver. A location signal is computed by a processor and transmitted to the GPS receiver. An accumulator accumulates that data and stores it in a data base. The unit may be connected to a Public Safety Answering Point. Also, the present invention provides a method to assist the GPS in mobile applications where the user does not necessarily have a cellular phone. The present invention discloses a method of transmitting ephemeris data to assist the GPS receiver without relying on the cellular telephone network.

  • Publication number: 20090003498
Abstract: A receiver system and method of receiving signals is provided. The receiver system includes a plurality of antennas that receive signals and are proximate to one another, a plurality of tuners, a signal combiner, and a symbol timing combiner. The plurality of tuners are in communication with the plurality of antennas. The signal combiner is in communication with the plurality of tuners, and combines an output of each of the plurality of tuners. The symbol timing combiner is in communication with the signal combiner and the plurality of tuners, wherein an output of the signal combiner and outputs from each of the tuners are received by the symbol timing combiner, and the symbol timing combiner emits a combined symbol timing output that is received by each of the tuners. The plurality of tuners process the signals communicated from the plurality of antennas based upon the combined symbol timing output.

  • Publication number: 20080293359
Abstract: A system and method for communicating and re-using frequencies is provided, which includes a source provider, at least one transmitter, and a plurality of antennas. The transmitter transmits source data along a plurality of signal paths including a first signal at a first frequency transmitted along a first satellite signal path, a second signal at a second frequency transmitted along a second satellite signal path, and a terrestrial signal transmitted along a terrestrial signal path. The terrestrial signal frequency is substantially the same as one of the first and second signal frequencies. The antennas receive signals, and include a first antenna for receiving at least the terrestrial signal along the terrestrial signal path and a second antenna for receiving at least the first signal along the first satellite signal path, the second signal along the second satellite signal path, and the terrestrial signal along the terrestrial signal path.

  • Patent number: 5454009
Abstract: A satellite communications system for dispersing energy over a wide bandwidth includes a transmitter, a communication link, and a receiver. The transmitter takes a digital data signal and modulates that signal at a prescribed carrier frequency. The modulated digital data signal is then spread over M adjacent digital channels (M.gtoreq.2 and being an integer multiple of 2), each channel containing the same information, to disperse the energy over a wide frequency range. The spectral bandwidth of the adjacent digital channels is chosen with compressed spacing to conserve bandwidth. Next, the spread modulated data signal is transmitted via the communication link to the receiver. In particular, a waveform generator at the transmitter generates a phase-aligned multichannel frequency diversity waveform according to a data clock at a predetermined phase relationship to the digital data.

  • Patent number: 4575864
Abstract: A digital programmable packet switch synchronizer receives a digital input data stream which includes a unique digital word. The unique digital word is stored in the synchronizer in a random access memory. A group of the most recently received data bits are stored in memory along with a blanker bit for each data bit. The blanker bit determines the valid or invalid status of the data bit. During each bit period of the incoming data stream, the stored data bits are serially compared with the stored unique word. A count is made of the number of noncomparisons between the stored data bits and the stored unique word bits when the data bit is valid. If the number of noncomparisons does not exceed a programmed error limit, an output signal is generated to indicate detection of the unique word. A similar count is carried out for detection of the inverse to the unique word.
