  • Patent number: 8438839
Abstract: An exhaust gas treatment system for reducing emissions from an engine includes an exhaust conduit adapted to supply an exhaust stream from an engine to an exhaust treatment device. An injector injects a reagent through an aperture in the conduit into the exhaust stream. A vortex breaker includes a mount having a cylindrical sleeve extending through the aperture as well as a flared tube fixed to and positioned within the cylindrical sleeve. A window extends through an upstream portion of the cylindrical sleeve exposing the flared tube to the exhaust stream. • Patent number: 5103724
Abstract: This adjustment mechanism (30) is for a printing press (10) providing a train of modules (12) driven by a common lineshaft (20) having a ninety degree (90.degree.) drive for a roll 18. The drive includes a worm (22) mounted to the lineshaft (20) engaging a worm gear (24) carried by the roll (18) such that axial movement of the worm (22) rotates the worm gear (24) and adjusts the register of the roll. The adjustment mechanism (30) includes a threadedly extensible member (50) engageable with one side of the worm (22) to urge the worm (22) in one direction and a compression spring (52) mounted on the other side of the worm (22) to urge the worm (22) in the opposite direction.

  • Patent number: 5042379
Abstract: A rotary die hold down unit (10) is carried between opposed sideframes (12) of a printing press and includes a clamping unit (14) carried by each sideframe and a cross member (22) extending between said clamping units. The clamping units each include a base (34) having quick-release pins (62) for attachment to the sideframes. The sideframes include vertical slots (18) and an elongate adjustment member (52), is received by an adaptor sleeve (48) threadedly connected to the base and extending into the sideframe slot, the adjustment member and the sleeve cooperating to provide coarse and fine adjustment capability of the adjustment member. The cross member includes pressure blocks (20) at each end received within the sideframe slots for engagement by the adjustment members, and a pair of spaced roller blocks (24) having rollers (26) engageable with the rotary die (32) respectively at points on each side of the axis of rotation of said rotary die.

  • Patent number: 5002235
Abstract: A printing press material roll lift and drive assembly (40) has a base (16) and a lift support frame (18). The lift support frame provides support for opposed front and rear vertical rails (50). A U-shaped carriage (54) is mounted for elevation on the rails and includes side support plates (56) having rail rollers (57) and an upper plate (58). The carriage is raised and lowered by a releasing ram (80) attached to the support frame at its upper end (82) and to the carriage at its lower end (86), said support plates including bearings receiving a carriage shaft (64). The shaft includes a cantilevered outer end (68) receiving the paper roll core (69) and an inner end (72). The inner end is driven by a magnetic particle clutch (102) mounted to the base and having a drive shaft (106) by means of an endless belt (112) extending between a drive shaft pulley (110) and a carriage shaft pulley (74 ). The endless belt includes a belt tensioner (114).

  • Patent number: 4998829
Abstract: A sideframe (12) of a printing press has a slot (18) having opposed elongate grooves (30, 32) receiving an adjustable gib (14) and a fixed gib (16) respectively for receiving a rotary die journal bearing block (10) therebetween in sliding movement. The adjustable gib has a stem (38) received within the associated side groove (30) and attached by adjustment fasteners (40), each of which includes an eccentric portion (42) received with an associated stem opening (48) to move adjustable gib relative to fixed gib which has a stem (56) received within the associated side groove (32) and attached by fasteners (58), to vary the width of the slot. The adjustable gib includes an elongate groove (54) which receives a bearing block key (86) said key being attached to said bearing block by an adjustment fastener (74) to permit lateral adjustment of said bearing block relative to said sideframe.

  • Patent number: 4942815
Abstract: An assembly (30) for mounting a printing press meter roll (16) to opposed sideframes (12, 14) includes mounting frames (32) each including forwardly disposed bearing (46) receiving the weight of the meter roll and a rearwardly disposed ell-shaped slot (68). The meter roll mounting frames are mounted by pivot pins (60) to adjacent sideframes, said pins being spaced from the axis of the meter roll, and being retained within the slots by a ball detents (72). An elongate counterbalance adjustment screw (62) is pivotally mounted to each sideframe and includes a remote end (82) engageable with the mounting frame below the pivot so that by backing off the screw the meter roll assembly is adjustably swung to a rest position on support pins 90 to move it out of engagement with, and provide access to, the anilox roll. The mounting frames include stud handles (96) to facilitate sliding removal of the mounting assembly from the sideframes.

  • Patent number: 4859087
Abstract: A journal bearing block (10) has opposed sides (62, 63) received in sliding relation between the opposed sides defined by gibs (14, 16) of a slot (18) of a printing press sideframe (12). One of the gibs (14) has an elongate groove (54) and one of the bearing block sides (62) has an adjacent elongate groove (74). A key (86) is received by the bearing block groove (64) and includes an outstanding portion (90) extending into the gib groove. The key includes a threaded opening (70) and is connected to the bearing block by a rotatable adjustment screw (74). The key is narrower than the bearing block groove but substantially the same thickness as the gib groove, whereby rotation of the adjustment screw causes the key to travel laterally in the bearing block groove with the result that the bearing block, with its rotary die journal travels laterally relative to the sideframe (12).
