  • Patent number: 10343937
Abstract: An electrocoagulation reactor (ECR) apparatus and methods of using the ECR apparatus in the treatment of a fluid stream. The ECR apparatus includes a noncorrosive cylindrical cell housing a plurality of horizontally stacked electrode plates. The electrode plates are held in a pair of grooved, crescent shaped non-conductive inserts. The ECR apparatus further includes two end flanges each having integral flow diverters to facilitate a continuous single serpentine flow of the fluid in the cell. The ECR apparatus further includes a single flow inlet and single flow outlet.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 30, 2015
Date of Patent: July 9, 2019
Assignee: De Nora Water Technologies, LLC
Inventors: Dana Casbeer, Larry Knight, Rudolf Matousek, Rubin Bariya

  • Publication number: 20130037492
Abstract: Systems, apparatus and methods are provided for treating ballast water by chemical injection using an injector having a geometry that minimally obstructs the ballast water flow to accomplish homogeneous mixing of hypochlorite with the ballast water within a short distance. The injector is inexpensive and has a configuration that may be easily installed and maintained.

  • Patent number: 8030880
Abstract: The disclosed power system may comprise first and second batteries; an electrical power generator; an electrical load powered by at least one of the first battery, the second battery or the electrical power generator; a converter; and a battery management controller. The converter is connected to both the first and second batteries and configured to operate in a neutral mode, a first battery charging mode, or a second battery charging mode. The converter is configured to create a voltage difference between the first and second batteries in the charging modes. The battery management controller is configured to monitor the voltage of the first battery and the voltage of the second battery and/or to monitor current flow to and from the first and second batteries. The controller controls operation of the converter to operate in the neutral mode, the first battery charging mode or the second battery charging mode.

  • Publication number: 20050111159
Abstract: The present invention provides for a novel technique for placing superconducting magnets into operation. For example, the technique provides for automatically controlling ramp-up of a superconducting magnet. In one aspect, the technique includes connecting a power supply to the magnet, determining constraining parameters of the ramp,-up automatically applying power to the magnet, automatically controlling the ramp-up based on the constraining parameters, and wherein the ramp-up is complete upon reaching a predetermined value of a target parameter.
