  • Publication number: 20240173950
Abstract: A cover for vehicle interior components is provided. The cover includes a fabric sheet comprising a yarn composed of polyester microfibers. The fabric sheet has a first face and a second face wherein the first face is an A-side surface with separated and raised microfibers that provide a suede-like appearance and feel. A polyester backing layer is laminated to the fabric sheet.

  • Patent number: 8129003
Abstract: A vehicle panel (10) includes a core layer (12) and a layer of metalized film (14) bonded to the core layer (12). In one embodiment, the core layer (12) is made of a material with heat absorption or insulation properties. The layer of metalized film (14) is made of a material having heat reflective properties that can be bonded to the core layer (12). Alternatively, a compatible bonding agent can be applied to the core layer, the metalized film, or both. To form the vehicle panel (10), the layer metalized film (14) is positioned on one half of a mold tool and the core layer (12) is positioned on the other half of the mold tool. Heat is applied to the core layer (12) and the mold tool is closed such that the heat from the core layer (12) causes the metalized film (14) to be in a formable state and bonds to the core layer (12).

  • Publication number: 20060110994
Abstract: A headliner assembly (10) includes a layer of core material (16), a binding agent (26) adjacent to the core material (16), a first layer of chopped fiberglass (14) adjacent to the binding agent (26), a scrim (20) adjacent to the first layer of chopped fiberglass (14), a catalyst (38) adjacent to the scrim (20), a cover stock (22) adjacent to the catalyst (38). The catalyst (38) and the binding agent (26) are mixed together and impregnate the core material when pressure is applied to the headliner assembly (10), thereby resulting in a rigid headliner assembly. A method of forming the headliner assembly (10) is also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20050136756
Abstract: A laminated article includes an optional scrim material, a barrier film and a chopped fiberglass layer or a layer of fiberglass mat. The barrier film is extruded and the scrim material and the chopped fiberglass/fiberglass mat are applied to the barrier film while at least a portion of the barrier film is in a molten state. As a result, the method of the invention eliminates the need to heat the scrim/barrier film/fiberglass composite in an oven to activate the adhesive layers in the barrier film, thereby reducing time and cost associated with the manufacturing of the laminated article.
