  • Patent number: 5201814
Abstract: The present invention provides a non-complex, simple to use and economical coupling device or connecting two elements, which provides for disconnection of the two elements when the tension applied to the coupling device exceeds a predetermined load. The coupling device includes an outer and an inner sleeve each having an axial bore. The lower end of the inner sleeve is slidably disposed within the upper end of the outer sleeve and the sleeves are relatively moveable. A frangible elongated member with a predetermined tensile strength connects the outer and inner sleeves through the axial bores. The frangible member breaks under a predetermined amount of stress thereby allowing the outer and inner sleeves of the coupling device to separate and disconnecting the attached elements. One or more internal longitudinal passages through the outer and inner sleeves adjacent to the axial bores allow passage of wire cables, gases, fluids or mechanical linkages through the coupler.

  • Patent number: 4613980
Abstract: An encode-decoder system for generating highly accurate, coinciding synchronizing signals at each of plural separated locations; for example, a system generating start signals for a seismic data acquisition system. The system transmits psuedo random code data over selected communication link to a respective position decoder which samples the incoming code and compares it with a standard code. If there can be established a predetermined number of successive code matches, an output start signal is enabled when the code match count first peaks and then decreases.

  • Patent number: 4464568
Abstract: Apparatus for detection and analysis of secondary uranium ores to provide signature indication of type by ultraviolet induced fluorescence and detection of fluorescence excitation time, peak value and decay time. The apparatus employs laser irradiation of selected terrain and telescopic detection at specific light wavelengths, viz. the yellow to green band; and thereafter detected signals are processed with specific circuitry to obtain and provide readout of the signature parameters.

  • Patent number: 4095425
Abstract: A control system for providing precise speed control for a rotary air modulator, and particularly for providing synchronized speed control as between two or more rotary air modulators. A common reference frequency is used for controlling rotational speed of one or more rotary air modulators wherein each modulator deploys an individual feedback system responsive to the reference frequency input to provide precise rotational speed and angular position coordination and, therefore, synchronism of frequency and phase output as between two or more individual modulators. The individual feedback systems include feedback and summation circuitry which derives angular velocity correction, angular position correction and hydraulic pressure drive variation for thereafter correcting and maintaining precise speed control of the rotary drive system.

  • Patent number: 4047090
Abstract: An improved digital-controlled power amplifier for low frequency, high power applications. The circuit consists of an alternator with stator windings rewound in a binary sequence for generation of primary power, whereupon pulsed semi-conductive controlled rectifiers are digitally controlled to turn on selected binary combinations of the stator output voltages for summation to produce an output voltage of selected amplitude versus duration; and further, the summed voltage output is switched by a polarity switching bridge to enable generation of a bi-polar output to the circuit load.
