  • Patent number: 6944993
Abstract: A modular office panel comprises a panel that has outer peripheral frame members made of formed tubes. The tubes have outer edge walls, side walls, and inner edge walls that are positioned to the interior of the frame. The inner edge walls are formed of side flanges that overlap in the center and which are welded together to enclose the tube and make it rigid. A fabric retainer channel is welded to the inner edge wall of each frame tube and has wall portions that extend outwardly from outer sides of the tube and side walls spaced from and generally parallel to the side walls of the tube. The fabric retainer channel side walls have edge portions extending inwardly back toward the tube side walls and which inwardly turned edge portions include teeth for retaining fabric in place. The fabric retainer channel has a base wall with tabs that extend inwardly from the inner wall and which are used for holding a central divider wall in place within the periphery of the panel formed by the frame members.

  • Publication number: 20020191400
Abstract: A direct/indirect task light for use in connection with office work stations has an elongated light source, preferably a fluorescent bulb as the source. The light source has a housing that is imperforate, but has an opening directed toward an overlying canopy that forms a reflector for the light. The canopy has perforations or apertures therethrough so that light will pass through the perforations to the exterior to provide ambient lighting. Light striking the canopy surface between apertures will be reflected from the lower surface of the canopy onto an office work surface.

  • Patent number: 5544593
Abstract: A desk top system which has a basic superstructure upright that permits attaching cantilevered supports for supporting desk tops, pedestals, and the like so that they can be adjusted easily and conveniently relative to one another. The pedestals can be removed if the pedestals interfere with the movement of the feet of a user when the desk tops are supported adequately in other manners. The superstructures permit back to back mounting of cabinets, desk tops and the like. The units thus have great versatility and adjustability for providing desk space for users.
