Abstract: A system and method for handling personal information management (PIM) data interactions with varied client devices. The system supports many devices, PIM data types, PIM communication protocols, and PIM data store configurations. The system may run on a telematics control unit and includes a data manager providing a client-side interface to PIM data that controls local presentation, manipulation, and storage of the client PIM data. A PIM connector manager discovers client devices in the system, determines what type of PIM interface to provide for the client devices, retrieves such PIM interfaces from a PIM interface registry, registers the PIM interfaces for use by the appropriate client devices, and enables the registered PIM interfaces for use by the client devices. The PIM connector provides data and protocol conversion between the client device and the data manager and/or data store storing the client device's PIM data.

Abstract: A user interfacing electronic system and method are provided for communicating data between a human machine interface and a host platform in a vehicle. The system includes a host platform having application software for executing an application for an electronic device, and a human machine interface for receiving user inputs and providing outputs to a user. A data communication link allows the communication of data between the host platform and the human machine interface. The system further has user interface markup language for communicating messages on the communication link between the host platform and human machine interface, including messages to deliver user inputs and outputs.

Abstract: A method and tool applicator for applying a heat transfer flock material portably to cloth surface such as automobile seats to allow the use of logos, letters, numbers, and any graphic design to be portably placed without having to remove the material from its present location without having to apply great pressure. The invention includes applying heat through a thermal barrier that protects the seat and the device from excessive heat with a hand-held tool for a predetermined amount of time, which allows the adhesive on the flock material to bond with the seat fabric.
