  • Patent number: 4294895
Abstract: A battery vent cap is presented for releasing gases from a battery container while preventing the escape of electrolyte foam. The cap comprises a strategically located reservoir containing an antifoam agent for dissipating foam attempting to escape. Further, minute amounts of agent are intermittently dispensed into the cell to reduce foaming therein.

  • Patent number: 4150714
Abstract: Apparatus for continuously casting lead strip at various rates upwards of about 8 ft. per minute including a nonturbulent, constant-head, constant-temperature source of dross-free melt, an open-ended casting nozzle, an insulator thermally isolating the nozzle from the source and an aromatic polyimide seal at the inlet of the nozzle. Melt is pumped upwardly through a standpipe which is open midway to the nozzle. An adjustable weir atop the standpipe controls the metalostatic head above the casting nozzle, and a reversible pump permits ready aborting of a casting run.

  • Patent number: 4122890
Abstract: A continuous casting nozzle for lead strip adapted for cooling with water or the like. Primary and secondary cooling channels are arranged in paralleling relation and intercommunicated by a plurality of ports which direct turbulent streams of water from the secondary cooling channel against the hot surface of the primary cooling channel to purge any vapor films formed thereon. The water exits the primary cooling channel through passages beneath the surface of the casting mold and exits the nozzle so as to bathe the exiting cast strip in coolant.
