  • Patent number: 5061010
Abstract: The chair of the present invention includes a power-assisted linear actuation drive mechanism having a modified nut or "cam guide" which is linearly moveable upon rotation of the power screw for selectively actuating the lift and tilt linkage mechanism for causing forward lifting and tilting movement of the chair when the motor is operated in a first direction. Rotation of the screw shaft in a second opposite direction acts to lower the chair to the normal seating position. Continued rotation in the second direction causes sequential operative extension of the leg rest assembly followed by angular reclining movement of the chair. This sequential operation of the leg rest assembly and the reclining linkage are independent and may be easily disabled to selectively eliminate either of the features.

  • Patent number: 5011220
Abstract: An incliner chair has a back and seat unit mounted on a base by way of slanted tracks and wheels at the rear and swing links at the front so that the unit can move by gravity from a rear upright position to a front recline position. Positioning linkage means for holding the unit in the upright and recline positions is provided and this may be activated by a short stroke handle concealed between the side of the unit and the base. A leg rest assembly is connected to the unit to move with it and provide a means to return the unit from the recline position to the upright position.

  • Patent number: 4993777
Abstract: A lift base assembly for an upholstered recliner chair or the like comprises upper and lower frames with wooden outer surfaces and an electric motor operated linkage mechanism for elevating and tilting the upper frame on which a chair may be mounted.

  • Patent number: 4627663
Abstract: A chair has a seat frame that is suspended at its rear by swing links which are pivoted to the chair frame on a horizontal axis located above the level of the seat frame and a back frame which is mounted on the swing links and pivots with them about the horizontal axis to be reclined to a large angle. The front of the seat frame is supported by swing links which extend downwardly to pivot on the chair frame and define a front horizontal pivot axis for the seat frame which is located below it. Counterbalance springs are connected between them and the chair frame to provide resistance to recline of the back frame and assistance in its return to an upright position. Linkage between the end of each spring and the adjacent swing link controls extension of the spring to keep it always tight and to apply the most advantageous degree of spring force.

  • Patent number: 4613186
Abstract: A reclinable back rocking chair includes a subframe mounted for longitudinal fore and aft movement on a stationary base and has anti-rocking means actuated when a leg rest is elevated and when the subframe is not in its forwardmost position as well as a novel latch mechanism for automatically latching the subframe in its forwardmost and rearmost positions and manual means for unlatching the latch mechanism to permit fore and aft movement.
