Publication number: 20240122798Abstract: Described herein is an improved spa system including an operating mode that results in efficient and/or reduced electrical energy consumption while ensuring the use temperature is achieved no matter the time and/or date at which the user desires to enjoy the spa. The operating mode described herein may obtain information indicating a time at which a user may like to enjoy the spa, precisely determine a time it may take to heat water in the spa from an ambient temperature to the use temperature, and cause the spa pump and/or heater to begin the process of heating the water to the use temperature at least the determined time prior to the time at which the user may begin enjoying the spa. A spa may not achieve peak efficiency without a spa operating mode that calculates the estimated time to heat a spa from an ambient temperature to the use temperature.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 12, 2023Publication date: April 18, 2024Inventors: Larry R. Ovalle, Erica A. Langpeter Moir, Brian Pierson

Patent number: 11957637Abstract: A spa is provided including a frame, a shell mounted to the frame defining a basin for holding water, at least one sensor for monitoring a spa component or water condition, a communications interface including a cellular transceiver, and a battery for providing power to the at least one sensor and to the communications interface when the spa is not connected to a power source. The spa also includes a controller in electrical communication with the at least one sensor and the communications interface. The controller is configured to, while the spa is not connected to the power source, receive information from the at least one sensor, process the received information, and cause the communications interface to wirelessly transmit the processed information to a remote source or central server.Type: GrantFiled: February 22, 2021Date of Patent: April 16, 2024Assignee: Sundance Spas, Inc.Inventor: Larry R. Ovalle

Publication number: 20230419815Abstract: A cover detection system may include a magnet positioned on a first portion of a spa, the first portion being one of a spa cover or a spa shell. The cover detection system may include a sensor positioned on a second portion of the spa, the second portion being the other one of the spa cover or the spa shell, wherein the sensor is configured to detect a position of the first portion relative to the second portion. The cover detection system may include a wireless controller in communication with the sensor, the wireless controller configured to receive information from the sensor indicative of the position, wherein the wireless controller is further configured to provide an indication to a user of whether the position is in a first state, or a second state based at least in part on the information received from the sensor.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 24, 2023Publication date: December 28, 2023Inventor: Larry R. Ovalle

Publication number: 20230301868Abstract: A system for water immersion may include a shell comprising an interior wall defining a receptacle sized and shaped to hold water, the shell comprising a seat between a floor of the shell and an upper edge of the shell. The spa may include a therapeutic light assembly positioned in the interior wall of the shell and between the seat and the upper edge of the shell, the therapeutic light assembly comprising: a lens that allows the transmission of infrared light, a housing recessed in the interior wall of the shell; and at least one infrared LED positioned between the lens and the housing, wherein in use, the therapeutic light assembly is positioned below the water line during normal use.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 2, 2023Publication date: September 28, 2023Inventors: Sergey Makarov, James Szpak, William Eugene Rabbitt, Larry R. Publication number: 20230160226Abstract: An immersion structure (e.g., hot tub, spa, swim spa, pool, showerhead, whirlpool bathtub, and whirlpool bath) has a water treatment system that includes a nano bubble generator for purifying the water. The water treatment system can further include a gas generator that works in conjunction with the nano bubble generator to create a composition of liquid containing nano bubbles. The nano bubbles circulate in the immersion structure thereby cleaning the plumbing system and water. The water treatment system can be located within a cabinet housing the immersion structure. The system can be controlled (e.g., water treatment, operational parameters, cleaning boost, part replacement, etc.) by a user via a smart app on a client device.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 16, 2022Publication date: May 25, 2023Inventors: Erica Aloisia Moir, Brian Pierson, Larry R.
