  • Patent number: 4517122
Abstract: Cyclic peptides, such as 1,4,8,11-tetraazacyclotetradecane-5,12-dione, that are useful chelation agents for metals are prepared by contacting an acrylic acid ester and a 1,2-alkylenediamine.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 12, 1982
Date of Patent: May 14, 1985
    Assignee: The Dow Chemical Company
Inventors: Donald A. Tomalia, Larry R. Wilson
  • Patent number: 4457860
Abstract: Emulsions of oil and water are resolved by contacting the emulsions with a heterocyclic ammonium polyamidoamine having pendant and/or backbone heterocyclic ammonium moieties, e.g., an adduct of (1) polyamidoamine prepared from methyl methacrylate and ethylenediamine and (2) epichlorohydrin.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 26, 1982
Date of Patent: July 3, 1984
    Assignee: The Dow Chemical Company
Inventors: Jerry R. Conklin, Larry R. Wilson
  • Patent number: 4435548
Abstract: Branched polyamidoamines bearing a plurality of pendant aminoamide moieties exhibit properties which are superior to the linear polyamidoamines from which the branched polymers are derived. The branched polyamidoamine is readily prepared by reacting a linear polyamidoamine with an alkyl acrylate or methacrylate to prepare a polymer with pendant ester moieties. The ester moieties are then reacted with an alkylene diamine or a polyalkylene polyamine to produce the pendant aminoamide groups.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 27, 1981
Date of Patent: March 6, 1984
    Assignee: The Dow Chemical Company
Inventors: Donald A. Tomalia, Larry R. Wilson, Jerry R. Conklin
  • Patent number: 4416729
Abstract: Wet strength of paper is effectively increased by contacting paper pulp with an ammonium polyamidoamine having cross-linking functionality such as epoxy or azetidinium and subjecting a wet sheet of such pulp to conditions sufficient to cure the polyamidoamine.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 4, 1982
Date of Patent: November 22, 1983
    Assignee: The Dow Chemical Company
Inventors: George R. Killat, Larry R. Wilson
  • Patent number: 4402748
Abstract: Substrates such as paper towels which are printed with an ink formulation containing a polyamidoamine having curable ammonium moieties exhibit improved print retention upon exposure to aqueous detergent compositions.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 1, 1982
Date of Patent: September 6, 1983
    Assignee: The Dow Chemical Company
Inventors: George R. Killat, Larry R. Wilson
  • Patent number: 3940301
Abstract: A method of manufacturing an open cellular article constructed of a plurality of spaced walls of relatively weak bondable material defining a plurality of elongated passages therethrough which are filled with a disintegratable filler material having sufficient form and strength initially to maintain the walls in their predetermined precisely spaced relation and after bonding of the walls into an integral unit such filler material being conveniently removable from the article to reestablish the passages between the walls.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 1, 1974
Date of Patent: February 24, 1976
    Assignee: Caterpillar Tractor Co.
Inventors: Raymond L. Straw, Larry R. Wilson
