Abstract: A multi-task communications system which is used to transmit, receive, and store information from various sources. This communications system allows vehicles to enhance road safety while communicating using a unique user input and display mechanism. The basic framework of the system comprises a telecommunications center which collects information from various partner organizations including banks or other financial institutions, restaurants, news and weather organizations, emergency organizations, and others. The heart of the system is a unit mounted in the vehicle. This unit includes a communications link, a GPS receiver, and a user interface which includes a speaker phone, display, and a series of LEDs.
