Abstract: A consumer user interface for a point of sale food selection system is modified based on certain dietary requirements. The system and method may be applied to point of sale kiosks as well as wireless data devices for use in restaurants, delis, cafeterias, coffee shops and other food retail environments. During the process of ordering, the interface determines a user's preference for one or more dietary requirements. Once the preferences are determined, subsequent choices for an order may be suggested, highlighted, recommended, parsed, or otherwise modified to aid the consumer in selecting meals that are tailored to their individual preferences.

Abstract: Inventory data, including time sensitive inventory data, are used to rank a list of choices presented at a point of sale terminal. Based on the ranked list of choices, the system and method may present one or more of the choices to the consumer through a ranked list, highlighting, promoting, or otherwise accentuating one or more choices. The system and method use a real time inventory system to evaluate the economic benefit for promoting a particular item contained in the ranked list.

Abstract: A process for configuring electronic information for presentation at an interactive electronic device with which an item may be ordered, including the steps of: providing an original template presentation created at a first location to include a plurality of template items; providing a database to include a plurality of database items; and configuring, using a computer, the information to include each template item that is also a database item. A template data record can be associated with each template item, and a local data record can be associated with each database item. Additionally, a process for presenting display information at an interactive electronic device, including the step of configuring the display information for presentation by tagging as active for display, a cell associated with a template item that is also a database item. Different types of cells can be accommodated.
