  • Publication number: 20060178209
Abstract: In an exemplary embodiment, a system for parimutuel gaming includes a tote system, a gateway, and at least one voice recognition unit and video or visual-graphic server. Each voice recognition unit is communicatably connected to a public telephone network capable of displaying accompanying video or visual-graphic images, and is communicatably connected to the tote bettor by bettor speech utterances, to convert the bettor speech utterances into commands, to transmit the commands to the tote system through the gateway, to receive responses from the tote system to said commands, to convert the responses to audio messages, and to transmit the audio messages to the bettor along with the video or visual-graphic images. The system also includes a first high speed network communicatably connecting the tote system, gateway and video/visual-graphic server; and a second high speed network communicatably connecting the gateway and each voice recognition unit with the video/visual-graphic server.

  • Publication number: 20050238320
Abstract: A system is connected real-time to a video source such as cable TV, satellite receiver, or off-air broadcast to receive video and audio signals to a final viewing screen or monitor. A tuning module breaks down the signal into composite audio-video signals to recognize (with unique circuitry) when a commercial break has been inserted in the source video, to switch to an alternative channel of predetermined length before switching back to the original source. The alternative channel may include a connection to an audio and video source, for example such as a DVD player or hard drive.

  • Publication number: 20050164142
Abstract: A trefoil for a rotary kiln is provided that has at least three spoke-like refractory legs. Each one of the legs extends radially outwardly from a center of the trefoil; spans approximately from the kiln shell to the center of the kiln; is preformed outside of the kiln for installation as a single-leg unit; and has a mating surface that preferably is uniform and even, thereby lacking interlocking features. The mating surfaces of the legs abut one another at the kiln center to provide mutual support. An alignment member, such as a pair of longitudinal angles, are welded to the kiln shell to position the legs. A corresponding method of installing the trefoil is disclosed that includes positioning and shimming the first two legs at the 4 o'clock position and 8 o'clock position, and installing the third leg at the 12 o'clock position.
