  • Patent number: 9931284
Abstract: A method for removing a radiation-polymerized cosmetic coating from nails comprising applying a solvent system comprising a hydroxyl-containing solvent and a non-hydroxyl-containing solvent to a polymerized nail coating. A two package system comprising a first package comprising polymerizable nail coating composition comprising a (meth)acrylic oligomer, (meth)acrylic monomer, or a mixture of a (meth)acrylic oligomer and a (meth)acrylic monomer, and a photoinitiator, wherein the oligomer or monomer has an acidic or basic ionizable group and a second package comprising a solvent system for removing the polymerizable nail coating composition after it has been applied to a nail and radiation cured, the solvent system comprising a hydroxyl-containing solvent and a non-hydroxyl-containing solvent. A radiation-curable coating composition for human nails is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 9248091
Abstract: A method of making a nail polish comprising using a rotor-stator to prepare a suspension base by mixing dry clay and film forming material in a solvent or solvent mixture to make a clay gel, allowing the resultant clay gel to thicken, and letting the thickened clay gel down in additional solvent, film forming polymer, and plasticizer and then adding pigment paste. The rotor-stator can be used before and/or after adding the pigment paste or can be used to make the pigment paste itself. Nail polish cosmetic compositions, UV curable cosmetic nail gel compositions, and nails coated with the compositions.

  • Patent number: 8668930
Abstract: Provided is a slow-release delivery vehicle for delivering at least one active ingredient into a film coating, comprising a population of stable, homogeneously-dispersed, porous polymeric or co-polymeric beads having a network of pores, wherein the at least one active ingredient is held within the bead particles and within the network of pores and slowly released by internal flow, and wherein the network of pores is substantially non-collapsible upon removal of the active ingredient. The porous co-polymer bead preparation comprises a continuous aqueous phase solution containing a monomeric mixture of at least one polyvinylaromatic monomer and at least one porogen forming a network that comprising (i) macropores; (ii) mesopores; (iii) micropores; and (iv) gel porosity. Also provided are methods of preparing the porous co-polymer bead preparation; and for its use as a slow-release delivery vehicle.
