  • Publication number: 20060160156
Abstract: The present invention is directed to the use of surface-enhanced laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (SELDI-TOF-MS) on tears of breast cancer patients. The present invention demonstrates the use of this highly sensitive and specific method to identify proteins and protein patterns in tears that show promise as a diagnostic indicator. Based on this demonstration, the present invention provides a novel, easy and non-invasive screening tool for detecting breast cancer and assessing treatment response.
