Publication number: 20080110381Abstract: A method of decreasing a concentration of nitrogen oxides in a combustion gas flowing through a vessel including: generating a flue gas in a combustion zone of the vessel, the flue gas containing nitrogen oxides and carbon monoxide; providing overfire air into a burnout zone of the vessel from a first injector of overfire air to oxidize at least some of the carbon monoxide in the flue gas; injecting a selective reducing agent concurrent with overfire air at a level in the burnout zone downstream of the first injector of overfire air and downstream of the oxidization of the carbon monoxide, and reacting the selective reducing agent with the flue gas to reduce the nitrogen oxides.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 16, 2008Publication date: May 15, 2008Applicant: GENERAL ELECTRIC COMPANYInventors: Larry Swanson, Wei Zhou, David Moyeda, Roy Payne

Patent number: 7104552Abstract: An improved plastic basket shopping cart includes a cart base having an upwardly extending rear frame section with a handle and at least three wheels rotatably mounted on the cart base. A generally rectangular box shaped plastic basket is mounted on the cart base, and includes a base wall, left and right side walls and a front wall, the side walls and the front wall having a plurality of generally rectangular wall openings having a height greater than their width, excepting those wall openings adjacent the base wall being generally square in shape for improved structural strength. Rear flange sections extend outwards and rearwards from the side walls to substantially cover the gaps between the side walls and the rear frame section. Finally, a basket rim support wire extends circumferentially around and through upper portions of the side walls and front wall and connects to the rear frame section.Type: GrantFiled: February 27, 2004Date of Patent: September 12, 2006Inventors: Terry Swanson, Larry Swanson

Publication number: 20050116529Abstract: The present invention provides an improved shopping cart wheel which includes a wheel hub supporting a wheel thereon and having a central axial opening. Mounted within the central axial opening adjacent one end thereof is a first precision bearing unit having a rotating cylindrical central hub, an outer toroidal bearing jacket surrounding the central hub and a plurality of ball bearings rotatably mounted within the outer toroidal bearing jacket and rotatably supporting the rotating central hub therebetween, and mounted within the central axial opening adjacent the opposite end thereof is a second precision bearing unit which is substantially identical to the first precision bearing unit. The central hubs of the first and second precision bearing units generally contact one another in coaxial alignment within the central axial opening such that the improved shopping cart wheel will withstand greater side load forces and have increased weight-carrying capacity.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 2, 2003Publication date: June 2, 2005Inventors: Terry Swanson, Larry Swanson

Method and apparatus to reduce flue gas NOx by injection of n-agent droplets and gas in overfire air
Publication number: 20050106516Abstract: A method of decreasing the concentration of nitrogen oxides in a combustion flue gas is disclosed in which the nitrogen reducing agent, either in gaseous form, as small particles, or as small droplets of an aqueous solution, is introduced together with the overfire air in such a way that it mixes with the products of primary combustion along with the overfire air. The nitrogen agent reduced NOx as it passes through the temperature regime that is optimum for the NOx reduction as overfire air and flue gas mix. The transition from low to high temperature effectively eliminates ammonia slip. Additionally, the nitrogen agent may be mixed with the overfire air stream in such a manner that it is optimally shielded from early mixing with the products of primary combustion, where a portion of the overfire air reacts initially with any residual carbon monoxide (CO) that would otherwise interfere with the NOx reduction chemistry.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 13, 2003Publication date: May 19, 2005Applicant: General Electric CompanyInventors: Roy Payne, Wei Zhou, Vitali Lissianski, Vladimir Zamansky, Larry Swanson -
Patent number: 4530838Abstract: CGRP (calcitonin-gene-related peptide) has the formula: ##STR1## A related peptide has the residue Lys instead of Glu in the 35-position. CGRP or this homolog or pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof, dispersed in a pharmaceutically acceptable liquid or solid carrier, can be administered to mammals, including humans, to influence memory, mood and pain appreciation and to achieve a substantial lowering of blood pressure or gastric acid secretion over an extended period of time. They also may be administered to affect ingestion behavior, taste and sensory perception.Type: GrantFiled: July 8, 1983Date of Patent: July 23, 1985Assignee: The Salk Institute for Biological StudiesInventors: Ronald M.
