  • Patent number: 6049551
Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for dynamically allocated multiple slots within a multi-channel multi-carrier transmission system. The slots may be allocated sequentially or non-sequentially. The data transmission rate for each slot remains constant, while multiple slots may be allocated to a single user service. Each carrier signal contains header data regarding all other carriers associated with the transmission system to identify the allocation of slots to user services. In an alternative embodiment, an encoding and transmitting system is provided for transmitting one or more video and audio encoded signals in a time division multiplexed manner along separate channels having fixed bandwidths. Multiple audio channels may be transmitted simultaneously with a related single video channel, and vice versa. The time division multiplexed audio/video signals may be transmitted over a single carrier or over multiple carriers.

  • Patent number: 6041295
Abstract: An adjustable CODEC receives a signal and compresses a received audio signal based on a psycho-acoustic compression system. The psycho-acoustic compression system includes several psycho-acoustic parameters which may be adjusted by the user to optimize the compression system for a specific application, transmission medium, or end user, for example. The compression and the adjustment of compression parameters may occur simultaneously in real time without interruption of the compressed signal. Additionally, the parameters may be adjusted in smart groups of a plurality of parameters that are, for example, sympathetic or are often adjusted together. An additional signal may also be combined with the compressed signal and the resultant combined signal may be transmitted over a single transmission path. For example, the additional signal may be multiplexed into the compressed data stream for TDMA transmission.

  • Patent number: 5301363
Abstract: A method and apparatus for adjusting the power level and spectral content of a digital signal which is transmitted at the same frequency as an audio signal which is modulated via analog modulation method so that the receiver receiving the audio signal is not perceptibly impaired and the power of the digital signal is maximized. The transmission and reception system comprises at least two transmitters for transmitting first and second signals. The first transmitter transmits an audio signal via an analog modulation technique and the second transmitter transmits digital information. A first and second receiver for receiving the two different signals, a power adjustment controller, and processor for adjusting the power of the second digital signal in relation to the first audio frequency range signal at the transmitters. The transmission system transmits the first and second signals to both receivers within a single channel.
