  • Patent number: 6422734
Abstract: A static foam generating apparatus including a pipe having an inner diameter, an axis, an input end, and an output end is disclosed. A plurality of perforated discs are disposed in the pipe, the discs positioned parallel to each other and perpendicular to the pipe axis. A plurality of spacer rings are disposed within the pipe, a spacer ring separating each perforated disc from each adjacent perforated disc. Additionally, a method for generating foam including the steps of providing a static foam generating apparatus including a pipe having an inner diameter, an axis, an input end, and an output end, supplying feed water to the pipe, supplying surfactant to the pipe, and supplying air to the pipe is disclosed.

  • Patent number: 6221151
Abstract: A composition for accelerating the setting reaction of an aqueous calcined gypsum slurry, and a method of making the same are disclosed. The composition includes a vibratory ball milled mixture of calcium sulfate dihydrate and a surfactant. The composition is prepared by subjecting the mixture to the high-frequency, low-impact grinding action of a vibratory ball mill. The resultant composition has a potency superior to that of conventional gypsum set accelerators.

  • Patent number: 6083465
Abstract: An apparatus for continuously calcining gypsum includes a flash calcining impact mill, a feed bin adjacent the impact mill for holding gypsum, and a gypsum feed control mechanism for supplying gypsum from the feed bin to the impact mill at a substantially constant rate. A method for continuously producing calcined gypsum includes the steps of providing a flash calcining impact mill and providing a feed bin adjacent the impact mill, the feed bin containing gypsum to be calcined. A gypsum feed control mechanism is provided for supplying gypsum from the feed bin to the impact mill. Gypsum is supplied from the feed bin to the impact mill at a substantially constant rate, and the impact mill is operated to dry, grind, and calcine the gypsum.

  • Patent number: 5879825
Abstract: A method of preparation and use of high-strength gypsum wallboard, as well as a core composition suitable for use therein, are disclosed. The core composition includes a slurry of calcium sulfate hemihydrate (stucco), water, and a strengthening agent. The strengthening agent includes an acrylic polymer composition having a glass transition temperature of about 15.degree. C. or greater, and preferably has good divalent ion stability. The method provides wallboard having increased core strength, paper-to-core bonding, and strength-to-weight ratio.
