  • Patent number: 4559657
Abstract: A sheet metal bedrail for mounting within a cutout portion formed in the legs of the headboard of a bed. The bedrail is formed of thin gauge sheet metal having a longitudinally and vertically extending central web portion and longitudinally extending beads at the upper and lower marginal edges of the web. A plastic end cap having a pair of spaced legs mounted perpendicularly to a plate is adapted to engage the bedrail so that the legs extend within the spaced beads. Aligning mounting bores are formed in the beads of the bedrail and legs of the end cap which receive bolts adapted to mount the bedrail within the cutout portion of the headboard legs.

  • Patent number: 4554692
Abstract: An adjustable retainer bracket for retaining a bedding foundation such as box springs on a pedestal bed base having spaced side rails and cross slats connected between the side rails, includes a retainer plate having a horizontal web connected to downwardly extending vertical side legs, and spaced locator holes and a keyhole formed in the horizontal web. The retainer plate is mounted atop a cross slat by placing the keyhole over an upstanding shouldered rivet fixed to the cross slat. The vertical legs of the retainer plate extend downwardly and straddle the cross slat to prevent rotation of the retainer plate relative to the cross slat. A spring locking member having a locking pin at one end is mounted to the underside of the cross rail so that the locking pin extends upwardly through one of the spaced locator holes formed in the retainer plate.

  • Patent number: 4536904
Abstract: An improved knock-down, fold-up metal bed frame is disclosed which provides a sturdy and easily manipulated interconnecting mechanism for the cross-rail portions of the bed frame with a positive interlock between the cross-rail portions. A hand-manipulated positive interlocking mechanism is also provided for a center brace which is employed to interconnect opposed cross-rails or side rails.

  • Patent number: 4458371
Abstract: A bed frame that includes a novel connector assembly for connecting a cross rail to a side rail at a corner of the bed frame that permits the frame to be easily and quickly set up and taken down, yet which provides a substantially wobble free joint, and a novel box spring retainer bracket that is connected to the frame without use of fasteners yet which is movable between use and storage positions as desired while remaining connected to the frame.

  • Patent number: 4413366
Abstract: A bed frame comprising a headboard, footboard, and a pair of side rails interconnecting the headboard and footboard. The side rails each include a pair of hooks on the end of the rails insertable into vertical slots in the legs of the headboard and footboard. These hooks are engageable with transverse pins which extend across the slots. A longitudinally slideable latch is mounted on the end of each rail and is cooperable with one of the hooks on the end of each rail to lock the rails to the headboard and footboard such that the rails may not be inadvertently dislodged or disengaged from the headboard or footboard.

  • Patent number: 4295234
Abstract: An adjustable bed frame having a pair of side rails interconnected by a pair of adjustable cross rail assemblies. The cross rail assemblies each include a pair of rails of L-shaped cross section. A fastenerless latch mechanism is provided for retaining the cross rails in a position of adjustment. The latch mechanism comprises a headed protrusion extending from one of the cross rails and fitted within a slot of the other rail and a protrusion on the other rail fitted within an aperture of the first rail, the two protrusions being located on mutually perpendicular legs of the respective rails. The two cross rails are locked in this assembled relation by a pivotable latch fixedly secured to one of the rails and movable into a position of engagement with the rails so as to secure their respective protrusions against relative movement.
