  • Patent number: 6627430
Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for the cultivation of chitin/chirosanrich, filamentous fungi with capacity to assimilate mannose as well as xylose, galactose, and glucose, wherein the cultivation of the filamentous fungi in a liquid medium extracted from wood in the production of paper whereupon the said filamentous fungi are recovered from the medium.

  • Patent number: 6423337
Abstract: The present invention relates to a porous structure of prepared fungal cell wall components, whereby the cell wall material is derived from a fungi selected from the division Zygomycota, the fungal material in the form of a suspension is subjected to drying in such a way that the material obtains a porous structure, the structure has a liquid absorbing property which is at least 15 ml/g of 1% NaCl (aq) and it has a liquid transporting ability of water, at a density of 0.01 to 0.03 g/cm3, in a horizontal direction of at least 10 mm during the first minute of absorption and in a vertical direction of at least 5 mm during a first minute of absorption.

  • Patent number: 5204060
Abstract: The process of disinfecting at least one of food, human beings, animals and products to be brought in contact with same to combat microorganisms includes (a) providing a microbicidal composition comprised of an effective amount of at least one microbicide which is hydrolyzable at a pH-value ranging from about 6 to about 8.5 and is a long-chain alkyl ester compound having the general formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sup.I, R.sup.II and R.sup.III are hydrogen or lower alkyl groups having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, R.sup.IV is a long-chain alkyl group having 10 to 18 carbon atoms, R.sup.V is hydrogen or a group having the formula R.sup.VI N.sup.+ H.sub.3, wherein R.sup.VI is an alkylene group having 3 to 4 carbon atoms, A is a monovalent counter ion, and n is a number of cationic groups in the long chain-alkyl ester compound; and (b) exposing microorganisms to the microbicidal composition to inactivate the microorganisms.

  • Patent number: 5132046
Abstract: A metal working process employs a metal working fluid which is water-based and which is one of neutral and basic, the metal working fluid including a corrosion inhibitor in an amount ranging from 0.1 to 10% by weight; a lubricant selected from the group consisting of mono- or dicarboxylic acids or esters thereof having more than 10 carbon atoms, organic phosphate esters containing one or two hydrocarbon groups having 6-18 carbon atoms, and nonionic alkylene oxide adducts having a molecular weight above 400, and mixtures thereof; and an antimicrobially active amount towards fungi and bacteria of at least one alkanolamine compound having the following general formula ##STR1## wherein R is an acyclic hydrocarbon group having 8-14 carbon atoms, A is an hydroxyalkyl group having 2-4 carbon atoms, and X is one of hydrogen. The at least one alkanolamine compound prevents microbial degradation of water-based fluids when included therein.

  • Patent number: 5080902
Abstract: A prophylactic agent for controlling venereal diseases. As an active microbicidal component, the agent has an ammonium compound having hydrolyzable ester group.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 29, 1988

  • Patent number: 4790978
Abstract: Use of a long chain alkyl ester as a temporary microbicide at pH-values from about 6 to about 8.5. The long-chain alkyl ester has the formula ##STR1## where R.sup.I, R.sup.II, and R.sup.III are hydrogen or lower alkyl groups and R.sup.IV is an long chain alkyl group having 10-18 carbon atoms, R.sup.V is hydrogen or a group having the formula R.sup.VI N.sup.+ H.sub.3 where R.sup.VI is an alkylene group having 3-4 carbon atoms, A is a monovalent counter ion and n is the number of cationic groups in the ester compound. The ester exhibits a temporary microbicidal effect due to a hydrolytic reaction. As a consequence the toxic effect on human and animals cells and tissues will be low.
