An item of optical information is displayed on the display apparatus having content that is determined by an electronic computing device of the display apparatus by virtue of communication with the display apparatus using a mobile terminal. The mobile terminal is used to create an interest profile which characterizes the user on the basis of use of the mobile terminal and the interest profile is transmitted to the electronic computing device, so that the optical information can be determined for the user on the basis of the interest profile of the user for display on the display apparatus.
