  • Patent number: 4724027
Abstract: A method for continuously manufacturing a thin wall tube of an extrudable material, preferably a polyolefine, having a wrapper of a metal foil.A thin wall extrudate is discharged from an extruder and a web of a metal foil having an adhesive layer thereon is fed against the outside of the tube and brought to fully cover the envelope surface of the tube with said layer facing the tube.Thereafter the tube is fed into an opening in a housing forming a pressure and temperature zone. The lamination pressure for laminating the metal foil to the tube is made selfadjusting by adapting the temperature and/or the efficient opening diameter of said opening to the inherent deformation resistance of the tube.

  • Patent number: 4267937
Abstract: An opening device is taught for packages comprising a substantially rigid outer wall portion and an inner layer of substantially gas-tight material (preferably a metallic foil), wherein the outer wall portion includes a first tearing notch defining an opening and a second tearing notch defining a grip tongue. The outer wall and the inner wall being interconnected substantially over their total surfaces facing each other with said outer wall portion and said inner layer being separated within an area substantially under said grip tongue. Preferably, the grip tongue is located completely within the opening defined by said first tearing notch.

  • Patent number: 4268336
Abstract: A method for manufacturing retortable cans is taught which includes the step of cable extruding a tube of plastic. Subsequently, a substantially gas-tight material is laminated to the outside of the tube and a plastic layer is laminated to the layer of substantially gas-tight material. Preferably, the gas-tight material comprises a metallic foil.

  • Patent number: 4210618
Abstract: A method for manufacturing an opening device for a package is disclosed. The opening device comprises an outer wall portion an an inner layer of substantially gas-tight material, the outer wall portion including a first tearing notch defining an opening and a second tearing notch defining a grip tongue, and the outer wall and the inner layer being interconnected substantially over their total surfaces facing each other with the outer wall portion and the inner layer being separated within an area substantially under the grip tongue. The method comprises the steps of coating the inner layer with an adhesion preventing coating within an area corresponding to said grip tongue, and connecting the inner layer to the substantially rigid outer wall portion.

  • Patent number: 4103802
Abstract: A closure is provided and includes a sealing member and a cover for sealing and closing a container opening. The sealing member is sealed to the inner and outer walls of the container, and in one embodiment, an annular, ring-shaped element is provided for supporting the sealing member on the inside surface of the cover. In all embodiments, the cover includes a flange sealed to the external wall of the container, with the flange including a line of perforations forming a tear strip for removing the cover from the container. In the preferred embodiment, the removal of the cover causes the ring-shaped element to penetrate the sealing member and to form an annular opening in the sealing member so that the contents may be smoothly poured from the container.
