    Abstract: A system and method for coherently demodulating an uplink signal in a multirate, CDMA system. By first demodulating information in a control channel which relates to the data rate of a data field in a frame of the data channel of the received signal, phase information can be derived so as to generate a reference for coherent demodulation.
