  • Patent number: 10863909
Abstract: A system and method for determining at least one physiological parameter of a subject. The system comprises a sensor for skin apposition. The sensor comprises at least one light source for illuminating of a thoracic bone or a septum, and a detector for measuring of reflected and/or scattered light from blood vessels related to the thoracic bone or septum. The system further includes a control unit configured to control operation of the sensor and an analysing unit configured to analyse the measurement data for determining the at least one physiological parameter.

  • Publication number: 20080269619
Abstract: A flexible pad for measuring systolic ankle blood pressure comprises two or more pairs of light emitting diodes and photo detectors. The pairs are disposed in parallel. The detectors are adapted for detecting light emitted by the respective diode into tissue and reflected from there. The pad further comprises conductor means for providing power to the light emitting diodes from a power source and means selected from conducting means and wireless means for putting the detectors in communication with electronic equipment for detector signal analysis. Also disclosed is the combination of the pad and an inflatable cuff, and a method for measuring systolic ankle blood pressure.

  • Patent number: 6666840
Abstract: Method and device for determining in dialysis treatment the content of waste products in the outgoing dialysis liquid from the dialyzer. Measurement of the concentration of a certain substance or a combination of substances included in the waste products is effected spectrophotometrically directly on the outgoing dialysis liquid from the dialyzer. For that purpose there is provided after the dialyzer in or after the dialysing machine a measuring cell for spectrophotometric measurement. The measurement value obtained is multiplied by the flow of dialysis liquid for determining the content of said substance or said combination of substances in the outgoing dialysis liquid from the dialyzer.

  • Publication number: 20020111545
Abstract: The present invention provides a non-invasive method for measuring blood circulation in tissue comprising the steps a) directing a first light beam and a second light beam coming from two different light sources with approximately the same wavelength against the tissue; b) detecting the intensity of the light of the first and second light beam, respectively, reflected from the tissue by using a detector appearing between said light sources; c) calculating a quotient of the detected intensity and a pre-determined zero-level intensity or a quotient of the detected intensity and a reference intensity; d) analyzing the quotient to determine the blood circulation; e) optionally, registering the quotient; and/or f) optionally, visualizing the quotient. The present invention also relates to and a computer program as well as an apparatus for performing said method.

  • Patent number: 5396893
Abstract: A pulse-frequency analyzing monitor which is provided with an optical sensor and which is intended for measuring photoplethysmographically the blood circulation of a subject, such as a body part of a human being or an animal, includes a light source, preferably a light-emitting diode for infrared light, fibre optics, a detector unit for detecting the alternating voltage, or AC-component of a generated PPG-signal for the purpose of determining the heart frequency of the subject, an electronic amplifying unit and a presentation unit, for instance an oscilloscope of a display unit. The apparatus also includes means for separating from the detected PPG-signal a signal component which indicates the respiration frequency of the subject. The PPG-signal is coupled to a filter, preferably a digital filter, which enables limit frequencies and the degree of amplification to be set.
