  • Patent number: 8804684
Abstract: Methods and arrangements (600) in a network node (110), for scrambling a timing advance value, to be received by a mobile station (120). The method comprises receiving (501) a signal from the mobile station (120), estimating (504) the timing advance value for the mobile station (120), determining (505) an offset value to be added to the estimated timing advance value, computing (506) a scrambled timing advance value by adding the determined offset value to the estimated timing advance value, and transmitting (507) the scrambled timing advance value, to be received by the mobile station (120). Also, methods and arrangements (800) in a mobile station (120), and methods and arrangements (1000) in a database (140) are disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20080233976
Abstract: A method and an arrangement for avoiding collision between first access attempts of at least two mobile stations being paged in a cell of a mobile communication network, wherein a paging message in a downlink channel comprises a pre-determined access order for the mobile stations being paged, whereby a first access attempt in a pre-determined TDMA frame in an uplink channel according to said access order is sent from the mobile stations being paged.

  • Patent number: 6631277
Abstract: In a radio network which employs adaptive antennas for transmission of data to mobiles methods and apparatus are provided for improving the reception of transmitted data. When a block is to be transmitted in a first beam of the antenna and the block contains information for the mobile in the second beam, a modulation and coding scheme is used for the transmission of the block such that the modulation and coding scheme provides greater protection to the portion of the block containing information for the mobile in the second beam. The use of greater protection for the portion of the block which includes information for the mobile in the second beam increases the probability that the mobile in the second beam can receive and correctly decode the information intended for the mobile in the second beam in the block.

  • Publication number: 20030104786
Abstract: In a system and method of adapting an ECSD connection, interruption times and data loss due to a change in the modulation, coding scheme, and number of timeslots of the connection may be minimized or eliminated. The interruption times and data loss may be minimized or eliminated by allocating a peak number of substreams for a given mobile radio connection based on a user requested data rate and/or the number of timeslots used to realize the user requested data rate. Data loss may also be minimized or eliminated by using in-band signaling to signal a change in the modulation, coding scheme, and/or number of timeslots.

  • Patent number: 6483919
Abstract: In a method and an arrangement for establishing an encrypted connection between a mobile station and a base transceiver station in a mobile telephone system, the base transceiver station makes sure, before forwarding a cipher mode command message to the mobile station that the mobile station is in multiple-frame-mode.
